Hot yoga is a demanding series of 26 postures (asanas) and two breathing exercises (pranayamas), which is suitable for all ages and levels of ability. It is practiced in a room heated to 40.5 degrees with 40-degree humidity to simulate the conditions you would experience if practicing in India. The intense heat allows for deeper stretching while protecting your body from injury at the same time.
The 90-minute program is widely reputed to deliver all-over health benefits, preventing illness, injury and even limiting the effects of aging. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments and joints in preparation for the next pose. Each asana is designed to stimulate organs, glands and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100 percent of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order.
In addition, the series of postures combines skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control, which leads to increased mental clarity and reduced stress.
