Miss W’s blog: The Ibiza family unit

ibiza-family

One of the things people often ask when you tell then you are living in Ibiza permanently (among others – how do you handle the pace of summer, is it totally crazy, haven’t you gone mad, when will you go home?) is what it’s like to live so far away from your family. How can you get by without that support network? Is it lonely being on your own?

These people clearly haven’t lived in Ibiza, ever.

Miss W’s blog: The Ushuaia Tower is open!

ushuaia-tower

It’s big. It’s bold. It’s brash. It’s nine storeys high, towering over the beachfront and covered in an enormous jungle-esque vines and colourful climbing (plastic) flowers. No – this is not the opening scene of a Hollywood blockbuster. This, ladies and gentlemen, is the flashy new sister to Ibiza’s most OTT hotel and beach club complex, Ushuaia, aptly named The Tower. Miss W’s blog: Confessions of an Ibiza tanorexic

miss-w-tanorexic

After a few weeks of slightly chiller than usual spring temps, plus a bout of serious rainstorms, when the glorious Ibiza sunshine finally reared her head, I was chomping at the bit to soak up some rays. Especially given that most of the girls fresh off the Ryanair flights from the UK were freshly spray tanned, leaving me looking like a ghost in their glossy haired wakes!

Miss W’s blog: Summer, I’ve missed you!

noam-imsWow. What an amazing weekend we just had here in Ibiza. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be sitting at your desk scoffing Red Bull right now, still recovering from the mammoth opening parties but grinning from ear to ear at the memories. And if you’re not, well, chances are you weren’t at the aforementioned parties!

So let’s have a little recap now, shall we?

Miss W’s blog: Ibiza groundhog day

miss-w-ibiza

Two weeks ago I was writing about the excitement of the Ibiza pre-summer season. And correct me if I’m wrong, but I do believe I may have said I wasn’t ready for it all to start. Fast-forward two weeks and I’m tired. I’ve been out every night. I can’t remember what it’s like to wake up without a hangover. And yet at the same time, I’ve been working in overdrive mode.

And the parties haven’t even started yet! Continue reading

Ibiza bikini body challenge: What a difference a trainer makes!

trainer

Over the last few months of this Ibiza bikini body challenge, I’ve discovered a new side of myself. It’s the side that likes to eat fruit. It’s the side that actually gets a kick out of Facebook gloating about going to the gym. It’s the side that managed to complete a 6-day juice detox. But there’s also a hidden side to me that I haven’t quite been able to shake yet, despite having caught the fitness bug… and that’s the lazy side. Continue reading

Miss W’s Blog: Summer is here. Are you ready?

Miss W: Summer is here. Are you ready?

I, for one, am not. I mean sure, I love the IDEA of summer but I haven’t quite managed to wrap up all my winter loose ends. I still have some unfinished box sets to watch. I haven’t read the complete works of William Shakespeare (let alone opened 50 Shades of Grey!), listened to Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Albums of All Time or mastered any dishes from my collection of Jamie Oliver cookbooks. I haven’t redecorated my bedroom, colour-coordinated my wardrobe, alphabetised my bookcase or organised my iTunes library into clever playlists. I’m only half way through my bikini body challenge and I’m so pale I daren’t bare any skin.

Quite frankly, I just haven’t finished hibernating yet! Continue reading

Ibiza bikini body challenge: Just add juice detox!

JUICE-2

A month (and counting) into my new training regime – all in aid of the Ibiza bikini body – and I feel good. I feel stronger (although I often still feel achey) each and every day… and yes, I also feel smug! This is the longest I’ve ever stuck with any kind of exercise and I have no desire to drop out. Seems it’s true – endorphins ARE addictive!

Ibiza bikini body: Feel the burn? More like feel the pain!

ibiza-bikini-body-3

No pain, no gain. Pain is just weakness leaving the body. Beauty is pain. If it doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t work. Feel the burn. OUCH.

These are just a few of the phrases that have been running through my head over the past two weeks, as I ease into my new training schedule with the 38 Degrees North team at Revival Wellness Club in Santa Eulalia. Well, I say easing myself in, but I have to admit, it’s been kind of a pretty painful process… like crash landing into a strange planet where I don’t speak the language. I’m struggling to keep up and I’m hurting!

Ibiza bikini body: You can’t lose weight by talking about it

If you could lose weight by talking about it, I would probably have shrivelled away to nothing by now! There’s been a lot of talk about my Ibiza bikini body challenge since I declared it on back in January… but not a lot of action! Which is why I called in the experts at Revival Wellness Club to kick me into gear this month…
