Two weeks ago I was writing about the excitement of the Ibiza pre-summer season. And correct me if I’m wrong, but I do believe I may have said I wasn’t ready for it all to start. Fast-forward two weeks and I’m tired. I’ve been out every night. I can’t remember what it’s like to wake up without a hangover. And yet at the same time, I’ve been working in overdrive mode.
And the parties haven’t even started yet! Continue reading
Over the last few months of this Ibiza bikini body challenge, I’ve discovered a new side of myself. It’s the side that likes to eat fruit. It’s the side that actually gets a kick out of Facebook gloating about going to the gym. It’s the side that managed to complete a 6-day juice detox. But there’s also a hidden side to me that I haven’t quite been able to shake yet, despite having caught the fitness bug… and that’s the lazy side. Continue reading
I, for one, am not. I mean sure, I love the IDEA of summer but I haven’t quite managed to wrap up all my winter loose ends. I still have some unfinished box sets to watch. I haven’t read the complete works of William Shakespeare (let alone opened 50 Shades of Grey!), listened to Rolling Stone’s Top 100 Albums of All Time or mastered any dishes from my collection of Jamie Oliver cookbooks. I haven’t redecorated my bedroom, colour-coordinated my wardrobe, alphabetised my bookcase or organised my iTunes library into clever playlists. I’m only half way through my bikini body challenge and I’m so pale I daren’t bare any skin.
Quite frankly, I just haven’t finished hibernating yet! Continue reading

On Sunday 14 April 2013, Ibiza’s style setters and fashionistas converged on the beautiful countryside estate of Agroturismo Atzaro in San Lorenzo, for the first big fashion event of the season. Presented by vintage fashion experts Anisya Sam (founder of Solis Lucrum), the Solis Lucrum Vintage Event was a step back in time and a true style spectacular, featuring one-off and vintage pieces, rare collector’s classics, pre-loved clothing and accessories and a swat team of hair and make-up experts on hand to beautify guests in the style of days gone by. Adding a modern twist to the event was a cardio masterclass, held by the fitness experts of BFit, with participants taking on a Great Gatsby dress code. Only in Ibiza!

A month (and counting) into my new training regime – all in aid of the Ibiza bikini body – and I feel good. I feel stronger (although I often still feel achey) each and every day… and yes, I also feel smug! This is the longest I’ve ever stuck with any kind of exercise and I have no desire to drop out. Seems it’s true – endorphins ARE addictive!

No pain, no gain. Pain is just weakness leaving the body. Beauty is pain. If it doesn’t hurt, it doesn’t work. Feel the burn. OUCH.
These are just a few of the phrases that have been running through my head over the past two weeks, as I ease into my new training schedule with the 38 Degrees North team at Revival Wellness Club in Santa Eulalia. Well, I say easing myself in, but I have to admit, it’s been kind of a pretty painful process… like crash landing into a strange planet where I don’t speak the language. I’m struggling to keep up and I’m hurting!

If you could lose weight by talking about it, I would probably have shrivelled away to nothing by now! There’s been a lot of talk about my Ibiza bikini body challenge since I declared it on back in January… but not a lot of action! Which is why I called in the experts at Revival Wellness Club to kick me into gear this month…

That’s how I’m going to be looking at Ibiza this summer. Like a virgin. No, not in the Madonna sense of the word! More like someone who is experiencing the island for the very first time. Continue reading
Who else fell off the diet and exercise wagon in January? Surely it wasn’t just me… Was it? Well, at least I’ll admit it…
You see the thing is… there were friends returning to Ibiza after spending the festive season in the UK… cue welcome back dinners and lots of drinking. There were friends leaving on their winter travels, heading to warmer climes for the next few months… cue farewell dinners and lots of drinking. There were friends who were staying put in Ibiza with me… cue long sunny ‘yay-the-weather-is-still-damn-amazing’ lunches and yes, lots of drinking.
Friends… who needs them? (Disclaimer: Me! I do!) Continue reading
Well, well, well… Look who’s put on a few extra kilos over the festive season. Obviously not the girl in the picture. YOU. I’m talking to you. There ain’t nobody else here, so I must be talking to you.
Oh wait. And ME. I’m the one typing, and there ain’t nobody else here either, so I must be talking to me (the first sign of craziness, right?). Although if you’re still reading and paid attention to my first paragraph, perhaps you and I are in this thing together. Continue reading
