When you’re dancing with reckless abandon in one of the six impressive arena-style rooms that make up Space, it’s hard to believe that the über-club in Playa D’en Bossa began life as a humble convention centre.
Completely revamped in 1989 by music lover Pepe Rosello - the beginning of a metamorphosis that would span almost 20 years and see Space become an international destination in its own right - the club originally became famous for daytime parties, smiling faces and hands in the air as planes made their descent into Ibiza overhead.
Due to changes in Spanish law, those days of partying in the sunshine are a thing of the past, however the forward-thinking Space crew constantly embrace change and now boast the most sophisticated and stylish surroundings for the world’s clubbing elite to descend upon each summer, to listen to the world’s most famous DJs while they dance the night away.
The famous Sunset Terrace still stands, where you can recreate the magic of those original parties, while inside you’ll find a new and improved and covered Terraza, incorporating a stylish VIP area, four bars and an elevated DJ booth. The intimate Red Box is ideal for those not quite brave enough for the sheer size of the Discotek, which is a nightclub enthusiasts dream come true - a cavernous room complete with pulsating sound system and laser spectaculars that are literally out-of this world.
For those needing a breather from the dance floor, the Premier Etage awaits. Situated on the roof, get your dose of fresh air and chilled beats watching planes fly overhead and reclining in a comfortable armchair. Or check out the latest addition to Space, El Salon - an all-white oasis that echoes the true Balearic spirit - think eclectic funky music, live percussion and flamenco.
