They say hands build a house and hearts build a home, however in the case of idyllic Agroturismo Cas Gasi, it was a combination of the two that created the perfect home away from home.
Situated in the very heart of Ibiza, in a small San Rafael valley with sweeping views across Sa Talaia, Cas Gasi is the labour of love of Barcelona born Margaret Von Korff who made the decision to transform her home into a hotel ten years ago and has never looked back.
Margaret says it was love at first sight when she and husband, Spanish lawyer (and budding chef!) Luis Trigueros, first viewed the old finca (originating in 1880), making it their beloved home for a decade before beginning the renovations that saw animal pens transform into stylish bedrooms, outdated kitchens evolve to spectacular Moroccan bathrooms and exterior porches converted to cosy sheltered terraces – traditional Ibicencan architecture with a twist.
From Sabina beam ceilings and unique hand painted tiles to handmade terracotta floors, ornate mirrors adorning walls and glamorous netting draped over beds, no detail is overlooked. Tightly packed bookshelves and eclectic furnishings – a fusion of antique, modern and classical - from all corners of the globe are testament to Margaret and Luis´s exquisite taste, garnered from years of travelling to exotic destinations.
The picturesque landscape is awash with colour – two crystalline swimming pools sparkle surrounded by bright flowers (inhale to experience the heady scent of jasmine and orange blossom) and lush greenery. Stunning almond trees, olive groves, orchards and an expertly cultivated organic fruit and vegetable patch hail the fresh produce used in the kitchen.
It’s no surprise guests return year after year for their dose of comfort dwelling, becoming part of the ever-growing extended Cas Gasi family.
After all, there’s no place like home…
