Tucked away like a miniature enchanted kingdom in Figueretes is the infamous Art Deco-meets-rock’n’roll Es Vive Hotel. With a cool turquoise-on-white façade hiding the decadent thump of a hard-partying heart, it’s easy to see why this funky hotel is renowned as one of the island’s true must-dos.
By day, guests lounge next to the sapphire pool, sipping icy cocktails and listening to the smooth sounds of resident poolside DJs Clara Da Costa, Sean Hughes and Mark Ramsey. Behind the scenes, the Es Vive spa – under the expert care of manager Nikki Porteus - provides the perfect cocoon of indulgence with relaxing massages and beauty treatments leaving post-party skin fresh as a daisy.
Quash any cravings in the restaurant (open to the public) with mouth-watering homemade pizza creations, classic fish and chips, green chicken curry or opt for head chef Juan Dechecco’s signature dish, lamb rack with a seeded crust, served with quinoa risotto and sweet corn relish – lush!
It’s at night however, that the real Es Vive comes out to play. Three intimate rooms with undeniable glamour make up the Experience Bar, where from midnight, regular promoters provide the perfect musical accompaniment.
Regular parties include Church on Sundays (starting at midnight Saturday – finishing God knows when!) with Nicole Moudaber and invited international guests, Marco Loco’s Chicago style, house sessions on Sunday and deep house event, High Class on Thursdays presented by Ice & Friends. Special one-off parties by London nights Plush the Funk, Chosen and the internationally renowned Hat Club take place throughout the season.
Feeling tired? You can always take a disco nap in one of the 53 uniquely furnished rooms, but let’s be honest: who wants to go to bed when there’s so much happening? Especially when you can sleep by the pool tomorrow…
