Pikes, Ibiza Hotel, Spain
From the 80´s to the naughties then the naughties to the now, Pikes Hotel in San Antonio has long been an institution in Ibiza’s rich social fabric.
As legend goes, in 1980 charismatic socialite Anthony Pike swapped Sydney for San Antonio, taking up residence in a 15th century mill house and converting it with his bare hands into the hotel that stands today.
Famous for its celebrity clientele, from Freddie Mercury and Grace Jones to Madonna and Kylie, each of Pikes’ 29 suites are individually designed and completely unique - the one and only Julio Iglesias even has a suite named after him!
In 2008, Pikes have embraced the wizardry of interior designer Bruno Raymond of Le Maison D’Elephant fame, to transform the premium Casa Blanca Suite - formerly known as the Marrakech Suite - into a maze of sleek minimal lines and cool white interiors. His talented eye has also been cast over the bar, pool and rooftop terrace converting it into a sexy and luxurious setting without losing any of the infamous Pikes charm.
By reservation only is the famous Pikes restaurant, where you’ll be rewarded with chef David Garrido’s modern cuisine with a subtle 70’s twist - think foie-gras asparagus and grilled duck breast with hot salad fruit sauce. For the early birds, the all-new Pikes Breakfast Club cracks and sizzles away on a daily basis serving hearty English breakfast feasts, with bacon and sausages flown in especially from Duchy Of Cornwall - that’s Prince Charles’ home brand, if you please!
Notorious for it’s poolside parties - in 1987 Wham! filmed their infamous Club Tropicana film-clip here - the action at Pikes continues with Ibiza Sonica radio broadcasting live each Sunday and Ibiza Rocks turning the tennis court into a mini rock stadium once a month.
George Michael not included.
