When a photographer is inspired by Stanley Kubrick you’re guaranteed mesmerising imagery, intriguing visuals and a lot of light. Meet Warsaw born Ana Lui – young, dynamic, hard working and one of the most calm-natured people you’ll ever meet.
After leaving the Polish capital at the age of 20 for the creative boiling pot of London, Ana studied at the University of Plymouth where she received a BA in Media Arts and Popular Culture. ‘All I wanted to do was make films and documentaries,’ she says. ‘Then when I began to receive praise for my photography, I decided to do both’.
After completing her studies in 2007, Ana relocated to Ibiza on a permanent basis, having spent her university vacations here on serious ‘working holidays’. Since then, she has assisted high-profile photographers such as Gavin O’Neil and Michelangelo Di Battista, plus shot for numerous island based concierge and production companies, discovering incredible locations and making many an impressionable contact along the way.
Working with digital and film Nikon cameras, toting six additional lenses and above all, a head full of creative ideas, Ana’s skills are now spread far and wide. Today she shoots weddings – including destination weddings in London, Warsaw and Dubai along with Ibiza - fashion, portraits and properties, continues to work with production companies and also films backstage videos.
Somehow, amidst this vast array of work, Ana still finds time to indulge her passion – undertaking vast photography research, trying to discover new ways of ‘seeing’. While her Ibiza summers are spent capturing images of people and places, winters are all about international travels and participating in creative photography workshops all over the world.
Ana Lui – a name to watch out for. We’ll be proud to say we knew her back when.
