Talented, instinctive, trusting, sensitive, super nice, hardworking and rather amusing to boot - meet Annie Peel of Annie Peel Photography. Just as well really, considering she’s paid to make us look fabulous (and meaning she’s quite handy with Photoshop too).
Annie was 18 when she picked up her first Pentax and has had a fascination with portraiture photography ever since. After studying at the London College of Printing, she spent ten years living in Camden, North London, immersing herself in the district’s infamous art culture and working with record labels and music magazines to produce captivating portraits of some of the most talented, iconic and rebellious musicians and actors of our time.
Before photographing her first London wedding in 1995, Annie - backpack, camera and not much else in tow - travelled extensively, snapping the contrasting cultures of India, Nepal and Mexico. She developed a fascinating portfolio and spent weeks on end married to a darkroom, resulting in many of her intimate portrait works along with documentary and fashion presentations being exhibited in several gallery spaces throughout London.
The unpolluted, undiluted and unique island lifestyle brought Annie Peel, husband Mark and their two boys to Ibiza in 2001 and due to all of the characteristics listed above, Annie has positioned herself as one of the most popular wedding and family portrait photographers in Ibiza. ‘Every wedding is different,’ Annie says, ‘and it’s an honour to be allowed to document an incredibly important part of someone’s life. The idea is for everyone – including me - to simply relax and enjoy the experience. My photos reflect this’.
Indeed they do.
