Seeing is believing
Born and bred London photographer Geoff Fenney – who received his first camera at the age of eight – relocated to Ibiza in 2009 with a passion for the island’s natural beauty, heritage and the desire to help conserve dwindling traditions.
Educating through imagery, the former luxury car designer set about documenting life on the farms, showcasing the beauty in events such as olive picking and Matanza. He also teamed up with local companies like The Shop and Ibiza Preservation Fund to cover special events and private parties.
A self-confessed foodie, cuisine photography is Geoff’s forte, with clients including Jamie Oliver, Waitrose, BBC Good Food, Delicious, Diageo, Absolut Vodka and Sunday Times Style magazine. Believing something must actually be natural to be believable, there are no smoke and mirrors in his work - it’s all about set up, understanding the technicalities of his camera, the light and software.
Geoff further utilises his technical know-how by running basic photography courses for kids and adults, teaching the difference between snapping and photography, with a view to eventually setting up an Ibiza photography school.
The progression from still to moving imagery was natural for Geoff, who now also works in video production. Whatever his clients’ needs – advertisements, studio work, editorials, portraiture, private commissions or reportage – he has the will, the way and the work ethic to make it happen.
