The path to enlightenment
In the eyes of Ibiza photographer Noam Ofir, the whole world is a stage. He waits - hunts - for human interaction, spontaneous energy and fusions of space, shape and colour to come into frame, a process of elimination and discovery that has been his passport to the world.
Citing the many layers of life happening around him as inspiration, it’s clear the Israeli born, Ibiza-based photographer cannot be limited to any one style, subject or genre.
His portraits capture the very essence of a personality. His landscapes evoke emotion, moods and feelings. Displaying a fondness for the human form, a tendency to work with unusual angles, a consistent sense of symmetry plus clever use of light, shadow and reflections, each image is a work of art.
Noam discovered photography at the age of 12, after receiving a camera from his father. He eventually headed to New York to hone his craft, working in fashion photography, but greener pastures beckoned and India really opened Noam’s eyes.
After a chance encounter on a beach in Goa, Ibiza was the next stop. Upon arrival, Noam realised his true calling as a photographer when his equipment was stolen. The ideas, imagery and composition remained in his mind, but the material tools of his trade were essential to share his vision with the world.
Today, Noam’s work is exhibited across the island, from KM5 and La Maison de L’Elephant to La Paloma, Atzaro and Ocean Drive. His non-traditional outlook, warm and straightforward manner plus the ability to capture candid moments also makes him a highly sought after wedding, events and fashion photographer.
Personal, creative projects are a work-in-progress. ‘One day I will create my own fantasy world in a picture,’ he says. We can tell he already is cultivating the image in his mind…
