Victor Spinelli, Photographer, Ibiza, Spain

Truth in pictures

To say the camera never lies describes Ibiza-based photographer Victor Spinelli’s work perfectly. His style is free, spontaneous and nothing is contrived, the very essence of camera vérité - truthful pictures.

The New York native spent 15 years traversing the globe, capturing colours, shapes, movement, atmosphere, cultures, religions and of course, characters along the way. Feeling an affinity with the Mediterranean, Victor chose Ibiza as his home, feeling a sense of belonging within the island’s creative community since his early days as Manumission’s official photographer.

Shooting interiors, fashion and high-end advertising campaigns come naturally to Victor, who originally trained as an architect, forever forgoing the traditional nine to five lifestyle. The self-taught snapper’s intrepid sense of adventure suits documentary style shooting, special events, backstage reportage and behind the scenes stills on feature films.

‘No’ is not a word in Victor’s vocabulary, bringing his New York work ethic and professionalism to every shoot, campaign or creative endeavour his clients require. With a recently released coffee table book, multi-media projects, acclaimed exhibitions, a newly formed apparel company and an impressive client list to his name, plus pictures published everywhere from National Geographic and Playboy to W, the future is looking bright indeed.

For the Boy Scout who got his first camera at the age of 10, he’s come a long way baby…
