Ama Lur, Santa Gertrudis, Ibiza, Spain

Basque country

The traditional yellow finca with large patio has become a landmark on the road to Santa Gertrudis over the past 30 years, yet its simplistic exterior gives no clue as to the fine dining experience awaiting within Ama Lur.

The world famous Basque concept restaurant (one of two in Ibiza) features two classically decorated dining rooms – one with stunning sweeping views across a lush green valley – and has been attracting island locals, international foodies and discerning travelers since 1981.

Your gastronomic journey begins with a choice of hot and cold starters –from the finest Jabugo ham, caramelised foie gras and tasty tuna tartar to crispy tempura courgette flowers and succulent grilled scallops.

For the main course, fresh seafood is in abundance, such as salt cod, baked seabass and grilled tuna. High quality meats, prepared with utmost care, include stewed beef cheeks with mash potato, sucking pig confit with cinammon scented apple puree and duck magret with red fruit sauce. Those with an appetite for richness will love Ama Lur’s signature chargrilled foie gras terrine.

The dessert menu offers the perfect finishing touches - an array of homemade ice cream and sorbet, offbeat creations such as goat’s cheese mousse or mango strudel, classics like apple tart and orange soufflé and the ever popular white chocolate soup. A true gourmet paradise.
