There are restaurants in Ibiza that are infamous, famous and iconic. There are some that are even legendary, epic and have mythic status. And then… there is Las Dos Lunas.
Land marked on the road to San Rafel by high protective stone walls, roof covered in grape vines, bougainvillea and an eye-catching white statue of a cow (yes, really!), Las Dos Lunas has been attracting the world’s discerning diners since 1981, purely by word of mouth. Charismatic Italian owner Massimo Lucarini, one of Milan’s original fashion pack, and wife Almudena believe the property - once an antique store and now also the family home - has a soul. And we have to agree…
Art and whimsical décor feature predominantly in the space, alongside secluded and romantic tables for two tucked in private, softly-lit corners and social round tables and long banquet style settings – as festive or intimate as you wish.
Authentic Mediterranean-meets-fine-Italian cuisine such as melt-in-your-mouth handmade pastas and the finest cuts of meat on the island, including the ultra-thin and perfectly crisp veal cotoletta, Supermilanesa are ideally washed down with Flor de Pingus or Vega Sicilia - the Ferraris of red wines. Try the homemade bread and foccacia, baked fresh daily in the outdoor wood fired oven and delectable homemade desserts, including double chocolate mousse served with fresh berries plus gelati and luscious ice cream crafted in an old-fashioned machine.
The prestige and privacy that Las Dos Lunas brings has lured many an A-lister, celebrity, supermodel, fashion designer (did we mention the stylish boutique?) and even royal family, however we can’t name names - the snooping and snapping of the paparazzi is strictly prohibited and for this reason, clients remain staunchly loyal, returning year after year for the experience.
But that’s as much as we can tell you – everything else you’ll have to discover yourself.
