Pura Vida, Restaurant in Ibiza, Spain
They say being a restaurateur is in the blood and the owners of stunning beach restaurant Pura Vida on Playa Niu Blau will agree wholeheartedly. Running successful restaurants is their family tradition.
In 2008 Ibicencan siblings Daniel and Alexandra Sanwald - along with partners Alexandra Sixt and Goran - transformed a former run-of-the-mill beach bar into their very own little slice of paradise. The result? Pura Vida, a gorgeously high-end beach restaurant on the island’s east coast.
Let’s begin with the décor. An interior oozing cool elegance and charm with modern touches like sumptuous white sofas adding a daring touch of glamour to the venue. Outside, a sail covered wooden terrace is the star attraction, while white umbrellas and beach beds for 80 people complete the experience.
Onto the modern Mediterranean menu. For lunch, tuck into the enormous paella with your friends and family or try the whole grilled sea bass just for yourself. It’s a simple and fresh menu perfect for a lazy day on the beach.
As day becomes night, the dinner menu allows chef Perico Villena to demonstrate his dazzlingly creative flair. Think a romantic meal for two at a candle-lit table, dining on delicate dishes such as lobster ravioli with truffle oil to start followed by an exquisite roasted suckling pig for main.
To complement the mouthwatering meals is the superb wine list, including port, sherry and a delectable dessert wine selection, which brings us to our next fave – the plate of Mexican chocolates. These fabulous fancies are a chocoholic’s dream and we think they are worth the trip to Santa Eulalia alone.
It seems at Pura Vida anytime is a good time to go to the beach.
