Sa Punta, chic Mediterranean dining by the sea in Ibiza

Sa Punta, Ibiza, Spain

Straight to the point (Directo al grano)

At the furthest point of Talamanca Bay, with breathtaking views to Dalt Vila you’ll find chic Ibiza dining destination Sa Punta.

Much more than just a restaurant, Sa Punta – which translates to ‘The Point’ - is a passion for French owners Rita and Rodolphe. Constantly adding unique touches, like hand-cut fries and crispy calamari served in kitsch terracotta pots, it’s easy to see how the couple retained Sa Punta’s staunchly loyal clientele after taking the reins from previous owners Pacha five years ago.

Argentinian Chef Diego Dechecco - famous for dishes like red tuna and wild seabass tartar with ginger and citrus fruits or green asparagus and black truffle risotto - runs his kitchen with flair. For lunch, the house specialty gets our vote - a Bikini toasted sandwich of cured ham, buffalo mozzarella and black truffle.

Sa Punta’s wide open space offers plenty of different dining options, including wooden decking and stylish décor, accessorised with striking red and white detailing and a terrace twinkling with thousands of lights draped around pine trees. All-new for 2009 is the addition of a Balinese-inspired rooftop lounge bar, Panorama.

It’s here you are likely to linger, long after you’ve finished dessert downstairs (try the Semifreddo homemade ice cream, a delicious blend of crumble, coffee and chantilly) or make an evening of it over gourmet tapas and expertly created cocktails, watching the sunset behind the old town, while DJs spin laidback tunes all night long.

Not content with a spectacular location, impeccable service and amazing food, Sa Punta also boasts private catering and can be hired for weddings and events. Their unique ‘Sunday with Kids’ concept means parents can enjoy a leisurely lunch while little ones are entertained with games, face painting and even a jumping castle.

We’ll make a point of seeing you there…

  • Miss W on Sa Punta...

I love gazing across at the old town and Dalt Vila, at all hours of the day and night, which is why Sa Punta and its rooftop lounge bar Panorama are at the top of my list for long lunches, luxurious dinners and lazy evenings spent sipping cocktails by candlelight. Another great thing? It's only ten speedy minutes from town but feels worlds away... amazing!
