Imagine an enormous walk-in pantry, stocked with jar after jar of delicious fruits, jams and condiments, an array of fine cheese, meat and fresh pasta. Add just-baked bread, homemade sweets and a selection of expertly chosen wines and you must be dreaming – or you’ve stepped inside the gourmet world Sano Deli.
The concept of Italian architect Max Camoletto and wife Susanna Cucco is simple – to source, create and produce the highest quality organically-sustainable takeaway food, so you can experience restaurant quality meals at home, on your boat or at the beach.
An amazing salad bar displays fresh fruit and vegetable creations. Lasagne, quiche, pizza, soups and gourmet sandwiches are served to order, alongside sorbet, pastries and specialty desserts.
The pasta counter is a sight of spirals, colours and shapes to behold, from luscious tagliatelle and ravioli (filled to specification) to pappardelle and slinky spaghetti, created by master of pasta, Tony Vilella who resides over his laboratory with 20 years worth of expertise and passion.
Choose homemade sauces made on site daily or opt for glossy jars filled with blends like Arrabbiata or Porcini mushroom, preserved using time-honoured traditions learnt from Max’s grandmother and mother, without chemicals, using only oil, vinegar and sugar.
Custom-made marmalade, honey and jam - made from fresh fruit without sugar - plus dried vegetables are flown in from Italy, as are specialty hams including Parma, Mortadella, Bresaola and more. Fresh milk cheese comes direct from the Alps - gorgonzola, reggiano, provola, pecorino and premium buffalo mozzarella.
Weekly gustacion events give you the opportunity to try-before-you-buy, tapas style and to complete the concept, Sano offers kitchen accessories and recyclable containers, though the extravagant may select custom-designed porcelain dinnerware and designer Sambonet cutlery, made to order in rose and white gold, silver or bronze.
