Pilgrimage to paradise
Kept secluded by sand dunes at the southern end of Playa D’en Bossa is Ushuaia Ibiza Beach Club, where Ibiza’s cognoscenti enter via a private winding path guarded by totem poles, passing through exotic palm-filled gardens, dotted with alluring day beds, candelabras and elephant statues. Crossing a quaint and tiny bridge completes this pilgrimage to paradise… and that’s when the magic truly begins.
The vision of French owner Yaan Pissenem was to create an Ibiza beach club like no other, a feat achieved in just six short weeks in May 2009.
The design and concept - ethnic pizzazz and minimal chic with elements of edgy urban cool - was developed with designer Bruno Reymond of La Maison de L’Elephant. The result? VIP day beds, rustic thatched umbrellas and raw wooden furniture complemented with modern seating and lighting. A fashion boutique, beach massage hut, juice bar and chill out lounge complete the package.
However looks aren’t everything, and it is Ushuaia’s Mediterranean tinged menu that is now tempting taste buds daily. Head chef Pedro Monje – on the speed dials of Bill Clinton and Steven Spielberg for private parties – presents a modern menu brimming with exotic flavour and featuring the island’s very finest cuts of meat, freshly caught fish and wholesome salads, plus gourmet sandwiches and snacks for the beach. Desserts are his specialty – try the mousse of tiramisu or pineapple roasted with raspberry.
After dark, Ushuaia becomes a grown-up playground of pleasure, hosting intimate and exclusive events with the who’s who of international DJs – including Tania Vulcano, Luciano, Bob Sinclar, Sander Kleinenberg and David Morales - spinning the soundtrack until 2am, while guests indulge in seaside sushi, gourmet barbecues and luxe cocktails on the sand.
All you need to do is get your name on that guest list…
