JOY Jewellery, Ibiza, Spain

Ode to JOY

Specialising in one-off and bespoke creations, JOY Jewellery designer Cyd Hutton’s handcrafted pieces are unique, miniature works of art, given a JOY-ful, Ibiza twist.

Working with ethically mined gold, silver and gemstones, Cyd – who spent 15 years traveling as a gem dealer before training to be a jeweller and settling in Ibiza in the mid ‘90s - also encourages clients to ‘reinvent’ old trinkets or family heirlooms to match their personal taste.

Constantly experimenting with new techniques and styles, Cyd finds inspiration in Ibiza’s natural beauty, energy, liberty and spirituality. Whether the ever-changing hues of the Mediterranean, texture and symmetry of a leaf or formation of a cloud, her observant mind’s eye (and sketchpad!) is forever collecting new ideas.

Along with individual commissions and bespoke wedding rings, her own exquisite (never mass-produced) collections – ranging from the girly ‘Follow your heart’ and masculine ‘Diamond in the rough’ to her latest colourful, bohemian range ‘Flow’ – keep the humble designer busily hammering away in her private workshop all year round.

JOY Jewellery clients hail from all corners of Ibiza and the globe, generally arriving via word of mouth recommendations. In summer, Cyd is also the brains behind the regular Pure Form pop-up boutiques, showcasing a collective of Ibiza’s finest jewellers at special events, ultimately bringing JOY to the world!

White’s Miss W says: ‘I’m entrusting my very-out-of-fashion-yet-very-sentimental diamond 21st birthday band to the expert hands (and creative mind) of Cyd, to recreate it into a bespoke piece that suits me now… but retains all the memories of then. A stylish compromise!’
