When your imagination beholds the potential to transform an existing space – be it location, house or cosy corner - into a colourful slice of India, an eclectic Moroccan setting, or a beautiful Mediterranean hideaway, the varied and spectacular Ibiza landscape becomes a veritable field of dreams. For décor stylist Natalia Wilmanski, this field is her workspace - the equivalent of an artist’s canvas.
From the bizarre to the beautiful, brilliant, brash or brave, Natalia creates a harmonious atmosphere with colour, light and décor in any situation, from sourcing props and styling still-life photo shoots to bringing the wow factor to weddings, product launches and exquisitely dressed store windows.
Her ability to conceptualise and construct a desired scene is truly an art form, aided by meticulous attention to detail and perfectionism (for which she credits her German heritage) and abetted with her fanciful flair for styling (a testimony to her Spanish blood). As with any artistic venture, this talent is something one is born with, however in Natalia’s case, her gift has been improved, enhanced and inspired by experiences along the way.
A psychology graduate, Natalia developed the necessary skills to complement her creative vision whilst working in advertising and consumer research in Barcelona – superior organisational skills and interpreting client needs plus the ability to adapt quickly and work under pressure – before switching careers to indulge her artistic tendencies.
Honing her craft during five years as a stylist on Habitania magazine, Natalia learned the tips, techniques, tools and tricks of her trade before the sunny shores of Ibiza – her dream location for creating ambience – beckoned permanently in 2007. The simple yet elegant island surrounds constantly provide her fresh inspiration, from light and landscapes to architecture and shapes.
