Roseline De Thelin, Ibiza, Spain

The light fantastic

Artist, sculptor and jewellery designer, Roseline de Thélin is a masterclass in creativity. Her designs are so much more than a pretty collection of crystal beads, mirrors and fiber optics; each is an exploration into our relationship with light.

Originally a painter and stage designer for the Paris theatre, she won a scholarship to India where her art took a new direction. However, it wasn’t until she bought 20kg of precious stones and arrived in Ibiza 15 years ago that her creative journey truly flourished.

Her first commission, a glimmering bead curtain of quartz crystal and rainbow moonstone, started her love affair with light. She says, ‘There were threaded beads hanging all over my finca and because of this there was full interaction with the light. It started a dream’.

That dream soon captured the imagination of others winning Roseline commissions from people across the world. She continues to work for private clients in San Tropez, America and Ibiza, as well as the top British interior designer Kelly Hoppen.

Ibiza’s magical energy has been a huge source of inspiration for Roseline. ‘I’ve never tired of its beauty and nature,’ she says. ‘It’s one place that has never bored me. In Ibiza we can be ourselves. We are free.’

All her designs are made here on the island using anything from gold leaf and fiber optic lights, to crystals and copper. Her stunning beaded jewellery is on sale in The Rose shop in Santa Gertrudis, while you can see her mirrored lights in bar Aura on the road to the village of Sant Joan.

Trip the light fantastic and Be inspired.
