What Maya wears: Silk, leather & lace - photography by Ana Lui
Introducing a new weekly style column by Ibiza stylist Maya Claughton of Midnight Sun.
Silk, leather & lace. It reads like an ‘80s Power Ballad Comp title but is actually the key to inter-seasonal dressing. I think.
Ibiza weather in April is totes all over the place and you could be drenched or burnt at any given moment. It’s pretty dangerous. Soooooo I think the key is to layer and I like to do this with pieces that are soft and slouchy but smart enough for meetings.
So, for today’s inclement weather, we wear:

What Maya wears: Gestuz leather biker kacket - photography by Ana Lui
JACKET: My absolute favourite piece of the moment, and probably of forever, a buttersoft little cropped leather biker jacket by Gestuz, with suede panelled sleeves, burnt gold zip features and a super slouchy cut. It’s from Selfridges, where Gestuz sits alongside Alexander Wang and Vanessa Bruno, and was a present from my equally awesome boyfriend, James.
TOP (just seen): One of those great little simple pieces that Zara do so well, a cute cream lace tank with scalloped edges and cool embroidery. A summer staple. Stock up.
TROUSERS: These charcoal silk palazzo pants – a gift from my uber-stylish mama – are soooooo beautiful I can’t seem to take them off. This month they’ve been to the airport, the beach, Bungalow 8 and The Hurlingham Club for Sunday lunch. The very DEFINITION of modern performance-wear, non?

What Maya wears: All Saints peep toe boots - photography by Ana Lui
BOOTS: Last year’s sand suede peeptoe boots from All Saints. I bought these in a mad dash on the way to the airport in Miami last year. I knew they’d be PERFECT for tumbling around Ibiza in for years to come and I was right. They’re the most wearable heels ever and I adore them.

What Maya wears: Marc by Marc Jacobs bag - photography by Ana Lui
BAG: My slouchy calf-leather Marc by Marc Jacobs bag hasn’t really left my shoulder since Christmas Day (another present from JB). Changeable strap length, subtle hardware, big/small enough to work everywhere, red lipstick kiss-print cotton lining. Done.
ACESSORIES: The scarf is from Primark and I ADORE it (orange and coral being my fave shades of the moment). Best £10.00 I ever spent. Neon orange Rayban wayfarers are classic – even more classic for being bought on the beach at Yemanja on New Year’s Day, therefore not being actual Raybans at all. Gorgeous gold heart chakras from the wonderful www.daisyjewellery.com. LOVE their stuff. An old aquamarine facet-cut ring from a random shop in Ibiza Town and stacking rings also from Daisy plus watch from Danish label Skagen. It’s gold mesh, from the men’s line (I always wear men’s watches) and manages to be both slim yet masculine, which is cool. I will mostly be wearing it every day.
