Inspired by the island and with the desire to have an Ibiza wedding that was relaxed, simple, pretty and fun, St Albans couple Amanda and Adrian selected Agroturismo Atzaro as their wedding venue. Decorated in beautiful, bright shades of yellow and white, the hotel was transformed into the picture perfect location for the big day, welcoming 80 guests hailing from the UK, America, Australia, Switzerland and Germany.

‘We chose Atzaro after some trusted friends recommended it,’ says Amanda of the sprawling rural hotel. ‘We stayed there with most of the wedding parties, our families and best friends and it was so much fun having everyone together in one place like that for a few days. You feel so secluded - it’s such a special place.’

Having enlisted the expert planning services of Kerry-Anne Winton of Ibiza Wedding meant the couple – who are based in the UK and fell in love with Ibiza after their first holiday here together in 2009 – had a dedicated contact on the island, to ensure the entire planning process ran smoothly and eliminated any stress on the day. ‘If we had tried to organise it ourselves we would have eloped in the end!’ Amanda confesses.

The striking decoration and yellow theme in the bridal party perfectly complemented the hotel’s beautiful, rustic surrounds. ‘Yellow is my favourite colour,’ Amanda explains of her vision. ‘I love how happy it is and I thought it would be a bit different to use it as our wedding colour.’ Amanda’s dress was by Spanish designer Rosa Clara, with her token splash of yellow being her shoes. Initially her bridesmaids were less-than-thrilled at the idea of wearing yellow, however ultimately everyone loved their dresses and the photos, by Ibiza wedding photographer Ana Lui, prove the effect was both dramatic and beautiful.

‘I thought Atzaro was decorated so beautifully and I especially loved the ceremony area, which had a beautiful walkway transformed into the perfect aisle and pretty wooden benches on either side,’ says Amanda, who spent the morning luxuriating in the hotel with the eight members of her bridal party while Adrian took the groomsmen and fathers to a nearby Ibiza beach to soothe any pre-wedding jitters with water sports.

Once the ceremony was over, a poolside champagne reception with a Flamenco guitarist providing the suitably Spanish-themed entertainment was up next. Afterwards, guests were treated to an extravagant feast catered by Atzaro, including teriyaki chicken brochettes with pineapple to start, fillet steak with potatoes and tomato gratin as main, and chocolate mousse with the hotel’s signature orange compote for dessert.

Speeches took place over dinner while the cutting of the wedding cake and the newlyweds’ first dance took place in the lounge area, followed by a performance by an incredible fire dancer. From midnight, the party continued in the hotel’s intimate club space. The venue’s versatility and scale meant the entire event could take place within one space, across many areas and the newlyweds stayed at the hotel for five nights in total.

‘It was perfect,’ Amanda says, summing up the event. ‘We had so much fun and I felt like I should have been stressed, but I never was. I felt great on the day, so relaxed and excited.’ Just the way it should be…
