Ibizkus, a unique wine made in Ibiza

Ibizkus, Ibiza, Spain

Made in Ibiza, for Ibiza (Hecho en Ibiza, para Ibiza)

On an island renowned for fine dining experiences, finding the perfect wine to accompany your meal has become something of an art.

Enter Totem Wines debut offering, ibizkus. A limited edition rosé that is more than just a beverage, ibizkus is a taste of Ibicencan history in a glass - with a unique story of its own.

Created lovingly by Laurent Fresard, a qualified Master of Wine, ibizkus uses the extremely rare Monastrell grape, a variety with a direct lineage to vines brought to the island by the Phoenicians over 2000 years ago - proving just how long fine wine has been appreciated in Ibiza.

Laurent is a wealth of wine knowledge, developed via his role as export manager for a company producing 200 million bottles of fine French wine followed by three years traveling to every wine region around the globe to study techniques, visiting three vineyards a day, to take away only the best ideas and practice to devote to his own productions.

Turning this focused wisdom to the rust-red soil of Ibiza, Fresard set about fulfilling his dream of fusing the unusual climate of ibiza and these rare grape vines into a supreme vino that will be found in only the most exclusive and chic venues on the island. There have been just 12,000 bottles of ibizkus produced to ensure it’s of the highest quality and each limited edition bottle comes adorned with beautiful artwork and packed in a silver case – making this the most stylishly delicious drink of the season.

The subtle (and yet very pink-ish) blush of ibizkus rosé wine adds a new colour to Ibiza’s palette this year and a new name to be on the tip of everyone’s tongue. Literally.

Having had the privilege of strolling around the ibizkus vineyards and chatting at length to mastermind Laurent, I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that ibizkus is a labour of love – an ingredient you certainly can’t bottle, though Laurent may argue with me there!
