Just when you thought the year for electronic musical comeback performances (of sorts) couldn’t get any better here in Ibiza, something special comes along and surprises you. This week, it was the European album launch of the all-new CD by legendary ambient maestros The Orb, who brought their ‘Ambient Spheres Gala’ to San Antonio sunset destination Cafe Mambo.

It was definitely one for the older generation, as Ibiza locals crawled out from their summer hibernations to make an appearance at what was definitely an historical event. The album, Metallic Spheres, was played – as it was designed to be – at sunset, and afterwards we were treated to an ambient DJ set by The Orb’s Alex Paterson, who admits to a penchance for Ibiza sunsets, however he wouldn’t give away his favourite ‘inspirational’ sunset spot!
