Ancient Oasis
Mirador de Dalt Vila, Ibiza, Spain
Finding a quiet oasis can be almost impossible during Ibiza’s hectic summer months but a peaceful luxurious stay at the five-star Hotel Mirador, tucked inside Dalt Vila’s protective walls, is the perfect way to recharge any battery.
The boutique hotel, open year round, is owned by Enrique Fajarnes and was originally a (rather swish) house from the turn of the century, passing through his family for generations until it came under his watchful eye. Its location, under palm trees and right next to an ancient castle in the oldest part of Ibiza Town is nothing short of spectacular.
The jaw dropping ‘spider chandelier’ made from jet-black Italian Murano glass is an unforgettable site as you enter the Mirador’s foyer. Interior designer Joan Ribas has left no stone unturned – even the bathrooms of the reception, grand suite and suite are made from precious green Onyx imported from Pakistan.
The ultimate in intimacy, the hotel has only 13 rooms: one grand suite boasting a large private terrace complete with Jacuzzi, along with a mini gym and sauna; one suite; four junior suites; four doubles and three singles, each decked out in classical style - think elegant antique furniture and exquisite soft décor.
For pampering, fluffy robes and beauty products by Spanish label Loewe are available in all rooms or treat yourself to a relaxing drink in the bar after a dip in the second floor pool.
The elegant restaurant, serving gourmet Mediterranean cuisine, is open to the public, but with only six tables you definitely need to book ahead! Those lucky enough to be in residence can take advantage of the 24-hour room service - perfect for breakfast in bed or if you simply can’t face leaving the luxury of your gorgeous suite!
