Are You Alive? Jenny Holzer Art Exhibition
Lune Rouge and Art Projects Ibiza have partnered with Spurth Magers to display an exhibition of work created by American artist Jenny Holzer. Open daily from 11am until 6pm, the gallery, owned by Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Lailberté is located on the outskirts of Ibiza town and brings a whole new level of contemporary art to the island.
‘Are You Alive?’ draws inspiration from Holzer’s original writings, poetry, literature and redacted government documents and the result is a prominent collection of work that uses language to tackle important issues.
Holzer uses a range of media as powerful messaging systems including the use of LED pieces. She originally became interested in electronic signs as a medium because of their adaptability and news-like features. Three decades later the artist still works with LED as it allows her to address and deliver content while simultaneously toying with how the colours and angles adapt to different types of architecture. The exhibition remains on view through to December 17, 2016 with private viewings available by appointment. Entry is free for all.
