North East

Famous for its bohemian laid-back vibes and lush green countryside, the north-eastern campo of Ibiza includes San Carlos ad San Juan, and extends to charming beaches like Benirrás, Cala Xuclar and Cala Llenya.

Ibiza’s north is famous for its bohemian, laidback lifestyle and gorgeous scenery, from country to beaches and beyond. Its reputation as a wellness and healing community is well-earned, as there are numerous ways to treat the mind, body and soul in the north east… simply pick your favourite!

Who you’ll meet

All walks of life flock to the north east, from the young, edgy neo-bohemians escaping city dwellings and the corporate life to quirky old-timers, ex-hippies and the original bohemians who never looked back. Of course it’s the Burner fashion that gives them away – gilets, headscarves, ponchos, feathers and oversized hats.

When to visit

Sun worshippers will be drawn to the north east in summer, to make the most of the early morning sun on her beautiful beaches. Blissfully deserted in winter, the sunshine still beams down daily creating great picnic spots, horse riding trails and hikes across the rest of the year make it great for adventure seekers and exercise enthusiasts alike.

Must see

The not-so-secret-anymore caves at C’an Marça were once used by pirates smuggling their wares onto the island. Today, they’re filled with stalagmites and stalactites (and are actually quite chilly even in summer!) plus a replica waterfall and you can take a guided tour at regular intervals throughout the day, all year round. From the entrance to the caves you can also peer through the binoculars at Tagomago, a tiny private island just opposite the caves.

Must do

Embrace the peace and love vibes of the north east and embark on a yoga or wellness retreat. If retail therapy is more your style, the famous Las Dalias hippie market is a goldmine of goodies just waiting to be rifled through all year round, while the nearby Cala Llenya flea market is a true treasure trove of trinkets. Sunset at Benirras is an Ibiza ritual, as the hippies come down from the hills and play bongos to say sayonara to the sun…
