Ask the Ibiza stylist: What do I wear to a beach lunch in Ibiza?
Ibiza stylist and personal shopper Renu Kashyap of Styled by Renu says most of her clients in Ibiza opt to eat out at lunchtime and put pride into dressing for the occasion. “A breathtaking beach view with super fresh fish – what’s not to love?” she says. “Two of the best reasons for me to also move my office to the beach for the day… everyone loves combining a ‘work’ meeting with an amazing lunch on the beach.” Read her tips for working the chic Ibiza beach club look like a pro.
DO: Bring your very best sunglasses or most stylish hat – a sun-drenched beach club is the best place to flaunt them.
DON’T: Forget to check your make-up before heading to your table if you’ve been swimming – smudgy eyes can be hidden by shades, but if you forget and take them off as you eat… disaster!
DO: Cover your bikini with a beautiful kaftan, but be sure you’ve dried off before you arrive at your table.
DON’T: Wear a bikini top with a sarong tied around your waist. The ‘Blue Lagoon’ look went out of fashion as quickly as the sequel to the movie!
DO: Bring a beach bag or basket that is easily stored under the table. Keep all your things organised and together in one bag, for piece of mind as well as practicalities.
DON’T: Be a packhorse! Bringing multiple bags is unnecessary, and you can keep the kids inflatables at home on the days you plan on dining in a stylish restaurant.
DO: Go bare foot (make the most of one of the only times in Ibiza it’s acceptable) or give your flat designer sandals a spin.
DON’T: Wear your stock standard flip-flops – keep them reserved for the beach only.
DO: Bring a nice shawl or pashmina to throw over your outfit, the best beach lunches are the never-ending ones that carry over into dinnertime.
DON’T: Go to lunch in evening wear, even if you know you’ll be going out later. It’s better to pack an extra ensemble and change into it after lunch.
