Ask the Ibiza stylist: What do I wear to a disco-themed party?

Renu Kashyap

Ibiza stylist, personal shopper and Studio 54 enthusiast Renu Kashyap of Styled by Renu says:“It’s no secret, I love the era of Studio 54 and I love seeing so many parties with this high glam theme taking place in Ibiza. Meeting this iconic dress code is all about getting the right balance, and giving it a slightly modern touch rather than looking like a tired ‘70s imitation.” Follow Renu’s rules for disco styling here…

DO: Maximise your maxi – opt for long, striking strapless versions or turn your daytime leopard kaftan into a sexy, wild and sheer evening gown.
DON’T: Wear hotpants unless you are under 25 or Kylie Minogue.

DO: Think lurex, think leopard, think shiny metallics, think sequins and sparkle!
DON’T: Wear glitter – it’s totally tweensville.

DO: Accessorise with oversized statement jewellery, like big jewels, oversized hoop earrings and chunky cocktail rings.
DON’T: Carry a shoulder bag – it’s all about waving your sparkly clutch around on the dance floor.

DO: Go for bold orange or red lips with sleek, simple hair, or vice versa – ‘70s inspired big hair with natural make-up.
DON’T: Ever combine big hair and bold make-up!

DO: Look for thinner than thin heels. Think sky-high stiletoos or kitten heels with ultra-thin straps.
DON’T: Platforms, wedges and chunky shoes don’t suit this look in today’s fashion climes.
