Blissful Ibiza boutique hotels

A tried and tested list of the best small, unique, eclectic, chic and sophisticated places to stay in all corners of the island

Over the past few months we’ve come to realise holidays are indeed a privilege, and now most travellers are aiming to make them even more magical than ever before. With this in mind, our team of on-island experts have put together a list of the very finest boutique hotels across the white isle – from eclectic and quirky to iconic and cool, not to mention sophisticated and stylish, these are the places that will make your summer 2020 stay in Ibiza unforgettable.

The buzz of human traffic is finally filling the streets of Ibiza. Now that the island’s been officially open as a holiday destination for over a week, more and more travellers are streaming in through our ports and airport. And after three months of lockdown, holidaymakers are really seeking something special from their choice of accommodation – not only are they seeking somewhere intimate, safe and secure, but also with unique offerings that mean they can spend days ensconced within the hotel grounds, with no need to go out – until the urge to explore strikes, of course. Ibiza’s best boutique hotels offer something for everyone, from chic and charming family run dwellings and legendary destinations famous for their hedonistic leanings to seafront properties with real wow factor, and so much more. If you’re ready to book a summer 2020 Ibiza holiday in a truly unforgettable destination, our list below offers something for everyone.

Casa Maca, Ibiza town, Ibiza

What was one of Ibiza’s best kept secrets just a couple of years ago is now well on its way to achieving icon status. Casa Maca, the beautiful ten-room boutique hotel sitting on a countryside hill on the outskirts of Ibiza town, has reopened its doors to holidaymakers, and couldn’t be in a better location for those seeking peace and quiet, but easy access to the restaurants and (limited) nightlife in the island’s capital. Run by the Mambo Group, service here is impeccable, the food is world-class (the outdoor barbecue restaurant is a destination in itself) and the décor pays homage to typical Ibicenco style. With a swimming pool that boasts views across to the iconic skyline of Dalt Vila, an onsite farm that supplies all the restaurant produce and an Airstream bar serving up delicious cocktails, it would be easy to check into Casa Maca and never leave…

Finca Legado Ibiza, Santa Eulalia, East

Another hidden island gem that is quietly whispered about by loyal guests, as they recommend Finca Legado Ibiza only to the closest friends of friends, in the hopes that it stays a precious secret forever. The luxurious and lavish space, set within an 18th century finca and decorated with so much attention to detail that not a single corner is not stylish, is already on the radar of the who’s who of the jetset however – set conveniently between Ibiza town and Santa Eulalia, but with a feeling of total seclusion once you’re within the grounds, this is a place where it’s possible to truly disconnect with the world, and reconnect with yourself, your partner, your travel buddy or your family. The secret, it seems, is out…

IBIZAZEN, Santa Eulalia, East

Ibizazen is an Ibiza boutique hotel with a difference – more like a modern day sanctuary, this Santa Eulalia dwelling offers first class service, stylish settings that truly feel like a home away from home and a place to leave the worries if your everyday life behind. Run by Dutch/French couple Sophie and Jerry – who recently welcomed the newest, littlest member of their team, their baby Sun, to Ibizazen – are consummate hosts, having spent much of their lives travelling the world. Understanding what a guest wants and needs from a personal perspective has allowed them to create a truly unique experience in their beautiful hillside property.  With just a handful of rooms, it’s the perfect size to safely holiday with your friends and loved ones this summer.

Los Enamorados, Portinatx, North West

You can’t drive any further north in Ibiza than Portinatx, and you can’t get any more boho-cool than the area’s best boutique hotel, Los Enamorados. Step inside the retro seafront façade and you could be forgiven for thinking you’d gone through a time machine and back into the 70s, such is the eccentric, hippie ambience and style, but on closer inspection, everything in this cult venue is of super high quality, be it vintage or brand new. Owned by former basktetball player Pierre Traversier and magazine editor Rozemarijn de Wit, the space pays homage to their incredible taste, their passion for collecting and their love of luxury – each of the nine rooms is like little slice of heaven – plush comfy beds, plump pillows, stunning views out to sea and more. If you fall in love with anything – and we mean anything at all, sheets, tiles, glassware, cushions – you can opt to buy it and take it home as a souvenir, as Pierre and Rozemarijn love the excuse to redecorate again, and again, and again…

Mikasa Ibiza, Marina Botafoch, Ibiza town

It seems like this season, most of Ibiza’s nightlife will be centered around Ibiza town and the Marina Botafoch area, with the best buzzing restaurants set to take over from nightclubs as the island’s star attraction this summer. Sitting right on the doorstep to all of the action is Mikasa Ibiza – a small boutique hotel with just the right amount of cosmopolitanism to keep city lovers happy, and enough bohemian touches to keep the more laid-back travellers feeling at home too. With just 16 rooms, it’s intimate and safe, with a stunning rooftop restaurant and cocktail lounge that boasts views across the port to Dalt Vila – truly magical at sunset. With the Marina out front, Lío Ibiza just a short walk down the road, Nobu a leisurely stroll along the Talamanca promenade behind the hotel, plus the bright lights of Ibiza town a quick taxi ride away, Mikasa Ibiza is ideal for those planning a long weekend (or week, or month!) of fun on the white isle.

Petunia Ibiza, Cala Carbo, South East

As Ibiza looks set to experience a summer like no other (in recent history, anyway), holidaymakers are seeking out new experiences and new destinations in an attempt to get even further off the beaten track and for these types of travelers, the incredible Petunia Ibiza ticks all the right boxes. While it’s not exactly new – the Cala Carbo hacienda style property has been around for almost three decades – it has been under new ownership since 2019, and has truly blossomed in its new incarnation as a stunning high-end holiday haven for discerning international travellers looking to experience the other side of Ibiza. Set directly opposite the monolithic rock formation of Es Vedra, there’s no denying the powerful energetic draw to Petunia Ibiza. In 2020, the hotel has also added a new feather to its cap – the addition of iconic Ibiza restaurant La Mesa Escondida, which has relocated from its former San Rafael home to operate by the sea.

Pikes Ibiza, San Antonio, Wests

While its late proprietor is no longer be regaling guests at the bar of the original scene of Wham’s Club Tropicana, there’s no doubt Tony Pike – founder of what is undoubtedly the happiest place on earth – is looking down on Pikes, the boutique hotel he built with his bare hands, and smiling about the fact that this Ibiza institution will outlive anyone who crosses its threshold. Pikes has been under the ownership of Andy McKay and Dawn Hindle for the past decade, and the duo have worked their magic to restore the hotel to its former glory, and then some. 2020 sees the creative direction at Pikes go up a notch, with all-new, all-pink restaurant Pamelas being Ibiza’s must-visit eatery of the year, plus plenty more eccentric and eclectic décor details added to the rooms, suites, bars and gardens. A new era is being ushered in at Pikes, just as a the world enters its most interesting epoch to date – there’s no tie like the present to experience it.

Pure House Ibiza, San José, West

If heaven is a place on earth, it is quite possibly located at Pure House Ibiza – a chic and stylish dwelling just on the outskirts of Ibiza town with just four beautiful rooms. Despite its convenient proximity to the island’s buzzing capital, the secluded valley location makes you feel worlds away. Completely private, the beautifully restored finca is set on 12 acres of countryside and is surrounded by lush tropical gardens. A plethora of chill-out corners, pergolas, terraces and gardens are peppered across the estate, but the most popular of all is by the stunning 23-metre swimming pool. Lined with cabanas, daybeds and sun loungers, it’s impossible not to relax at Pure House Ibiza – your days made even more relaxing by the ultra-personal service

Safragell Ibiza Suites – Spa, San Lorenzo, North East

In a stunning location in the north of Ibiza, Safragell Ibiza Suites – Spa is a luxurious Agroturismo comprised of just 12 spacious, stylish and completely private suites. What was once an ancient farmhouse, dating back to the 1500s, has been totally transformed into a vision of sophistication – each room looks as if it could have leapt off the pages of an interiors magazine. Each suite possesses its own private lawn, or covered terrace, while two even boast private pools; one is set in an independent building entirely. The feeling is one of staying in a villa, but with all the services of a luxury hotel – add to that the modern Mediterranean restaurant, and it’s like the second home you always wished you had. Opening July 16, 2020.

Ses Pitreras, San Antonio, West

The west coast of Ibiza boasts some of the island’s most spectacular coastline, and of course the attraction of those iconic nightly sunsets, sound-tracked by Balearic DJs. Tucked away in an unassuming side street in an area of Ibiza that is rapidly becoming more gentrified is Ses Pitreras – a sleek boutique hotel, shrouded by palm trees for a feeling of complete discretion and privacy. Inside, the ultra-modern hotel features just nine rooms, meaning it’s never overcrowded and there’s plenty of space for all guests to relax and unwind. A state-of-the-art spa – exclusively for the use of clients – is also onsite, with a deluxe treatment menu to help you really relax into those valuable holiday hours. Finally, the in-house Mediterranean restaurant serves up all your holiday favourites – although it’s just a 200-metre walk to the beach, it’s easy to imagine settling in here for a whole week! Opening July 18, 2020.

The Giri Residence, San Juan, North West

There may only be five suites at The Giri Residence, but just because it’s limited in its capacity doesn’t make it any less of a luxurious place to stay. In fact, this gorgeous San Juan design hotel has been created so that all guests have more than enough personal space to enjoy throughout the hotel – expansive gardens with four large Balinese cabanas, a spacious in-house dining and living area plus an outdoor chill-out terrace and of course, the stunning poolside deck and dining spaces. With a private chef on hand to whip up whatever your heart desires (seriously), incredibly intuitive staff, a spa where Ayurvedic therapists can help restore your balance, plus interior design that’s worthy of a magazine – there’s likely to be a rush on booking summer holidays at this exclusive boutique hotel when it reopens on July 15, 2020.
