Closing time…

The closing fiesta season is officialy upon us. For the island workers and residents these next two weeks usually can’t come fast enough, after a super intense August period and the final run into September, but if you’re planning a visit to experience some of the dates below, then be prepared, because the real party madness is about to descend on Ibiza, like you will have never seen before (unless you’ve been here for the closings before of course).

Whilst openings are a great showcase for the new venues, new parties and promoters to strut their stuff, closings are when the hard working staff of the island who have been pouring cocktails or driving cars all summer finally get to let their hair down. Friendships forged over the course of the season get one last final hoorah, opening hours of the venues extend beyond the realms of regulation in most cases, and if you’ve ever stood overlooking the dance-floor on the balcony of the terrace of Amnesia at 11am (everybody is a VIP by then of course) then you may have experienced the feeling of absolute Armageddon reigning.

Anything goes at a closing party, and here’s our rundown of the best to come… Be sure to pack your stamina, it’s a marathon, not a race!

Beginning the run of venue closedowns, Eden Closing Party takes place tonight, Thursday September 24, 2015 with headliners Mark Knight, and Nick Warren, both huge fans and regular guests at the newly reopened dome-shaped discotheque in San Antonio. Local DJs Jason Bye and Dermot C fly the flag for the workers too ensuring popularity amongst the local crowd.

Continuing on that side of the island, The Zoo Project closes the doors of the old abandoned Zoo on Saturday September 26, 2015 with Maribou State, Cinnaman, and Evan Baggs alongside others playing in the booths built amongst the trees at the festival-style open air event. A truly bananas daytime experience.

Midweek (Tuesday September 29, 2015) sees the island’s hottest new venue Heart, host one of the season’s hottest new live acts, Damian Lazarus & The Ancient Moons, with Behrouz and DJ Three accompanying for final Heart Factory. Definitely the most talked about little club on the island this year shouldn’t be missed on your closing circuit.

There’s still plenty of recovery time before Friday October 3, 2015‘s monster 12-hour nonstop Supermartxe Closing at Privilege where Nervo, Tomas Gold and Brian Cross are joined by Yvesv, resident of Tomorrowland, for the largest club in the world’s biggest party of the season.

By now of course we are into the main closing weekend. Pacing oneself here should be the priority, but with plenty of breaks and a few healthy disco-naps in between it is possible to cover the next three days and make it out of the other side.

Saturday October 3, 2015 is all about the Ushuaia Ibiza Closing Party. The line-up has stayed clear of some of the hotel’s more usual commercial headliners as they list Apollonia, Andrea Olivia, Eli & Fur, Joris Voorn & Nic Fanciulli, Maya Jane Coles, Nina Kraviz, Los Suruba and Uner & Agoria as their guests for the day. Expect some amazing music, outstanding visual displays and a long long day that will turn into night under the stars.

Of course, it will all be over perfectly in time for us to make it to Amnesia Closing that evening. Arriving anytime before 4am to the closing just isn’t done. Famed for carrying on well into the next day on their last party of the year, Amnesia welcomes Gorgon City, Joseph Capriati, Maceo Plex, Reboot, Tale of Us, The Martinez Brothers, Pan Pot and MK over the course of the fiesta, which starts at midnight and closes around lunchtime Sunday.

A good rest and some solid sustenance should tide things over before hitting Space Closing Fiesta on Sunday October 4, 2015. Huge numbers are expected at this eponymous event, where the carpark becomes an open-air dancefloor and circus performers circle their flags above the crowds in the afternoon sunshine. Many of the DJs will be playing back to back for this special day, including Luciano b2b Josh Wink, Tania Vulcano b2b Jose Divina, and as the sun rises on the world famous terrace itself, Carl Cox b2b Nic Fanciulli. It’s not unheard of for partygoers to pop in after breakfast on Monday morning to check that set out.

Thankfully, Circo Loco’s Closing Party at DC10 doesn’t start until 4pm on Monday October 5, 2015, so there is plenty of time to prepare before locking into that other legendary terrace for a solid stomp. No line-ups have been released yet for this, but expect the likes of Jamie Jones, Seth Troxler, Damian Lazarus and System of Survival to be appearing on a poster near you soon, as the venue always supports its regular roster of artists for their last fling of the summer.

There are also no line-ups for the Sankeys Ibiza closing in Playa D’en Bossa on Tuesday October 6, 2015, but they should be announced soon, and based on previous years it will be something über-special.

By Wednesday October 7, 2015, of course, it’ll be time for the last big open-air event of the season at Destino Ibiza, with Solomun, Hot since 82, and Kollektiv Turmstrasse serenading the citizens of Talamanca into another winter season. And then Solomun also puts the lid back on the disco-box that is Pacha on Sunday October 11, 2015, when he plays all night long. Just one DJ on a closing line-up? Well after the next two weeks are over with, it will feel like the best thing we’ve heard all season.

Good luck and may the force be with you all.
