Flowers, flowers, flowers! Spring was in the air, but it was also on the trees, in girl’s hair, on the belts and lapels of waiters and wrapped around the specially constructed entrance to Agroturismo Atzaró for the annual Fiesta de la PrimaVera this year, a little touch that didn’t go unnoticed by a veteran like Miss W!
Arriving early for the special three-course lunch, Miss W and the White-ettes nabbed one of the last remaining tables in the sunshine (and before you ask, no, we didn’t pull strings to score the best spot, we had booked in advance like all the other clever diners – it was packed on the Atzaró Restaurant terrace!) and were tucking into a crisp vino blanco before you could say por favor!
After a long, lazy and luxurious lunch (and I’d like to take this opportunity to give a nod to the chef, for the a truly delectable entrée of creamy mushroom rice), we made mingling our mission. We headed up to the cocktail bar where there were hundreds of happy faces milling around, from young families, people with pets and loved up couples to super cool Ibiza scenesters and even the mega famous (yet understated) celebrity types (see the gossip below for more details).
With pop-up boutiques from some of our favourite Ibiza fashionistas, such as reVOLVER, Natasha Collis Fine Jewellery and JOY Jewellery, a special tarot and astrology hotspot from our exclusive astrologer (and birthday girl!) Tamara of Inner Power Astrology and cohort Dale Andre of Tarot Soleil plus special kids entertainment from Kids In Ibiza, to say there was something for everyone was almost an understatement.
Ibiza’s favourite Flamenco family were in fabulous form, with Paco Fernandez and co presenting an all-new performance for 2010, after which some of Ibiza’s finest DJs – including Jon Sa Trinxa, Tuccillo, Brunofromibiza and more – built up a buzz and kept the party in full force until long after the much-talked about ‘super moon’ had risen over the sprawling property.
As for the antics that went on after that? Well, I’ll never tell… but at least I have the moon to blame (never the vino blanco of course).
THE GOOD: Here comes the sun… A week of grey sky and drizzle led up to the event, so seeing the sun shining through the curtains on this Sunday morning made it easier to jump out of bed and whiz on up to Atzaró.
THE BAD: Dare Miss W say it? The following morning’s hangover was a killer! Yes indeed, I was one of the attendees who arrived early for lunch and stayed until the DJs played their last tune… and loved every minute.
THE GOSSIP: Was that Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant we spied, enjoying the festivities and soaking up the sun’s rays? Yes indeed… we’ve heard he’s been frequenting the island for years, and it was nice to finally put a face to the rumour!
