When you work for one of the biggest and most respected boat charter company in Ibiza, you tend to make quiet a few trips to Formentera – an occupational hazard many would actually pay for! This does put you in the hot seat however, with visiting friends, family and even your neighbours all clamouring to know – what’s your top tip for Formentera? Where’s you favourite place? Tell us all the locals’ secrets…
It’s all in a day’s work for the team at Smart Charter Ibiza, who excel in organising everything from snacks and beverages to even the most unusual requests; drawing on their personal experiences to create an unforgettable day where nothing is impossible.
The trip between Ibiza and Formentera is always exhilarating. The sun, the sea and the luxe boat captained by a Smart Charter Ibiza skipper is almost as exciting as the anticipation of arriving. Throw in some choice water toys like a Seabob and some inflatables and you’ve got instant memory making fun on tap. And then there is the moment of making landfall and stepping onto Ibiza’s beautiful and welcoming sister island. A delicious lunch at one of the island’s top beach side restaurants – or in one of the Smart Charter Ibiza team’s favourite secret haunts – followed by a wander around before soaking up some rays and just generally having a gorgeous day. It doesn’t get better then that and it doesn’t matter how many times you go there, Formentera always delivers.
Specialising in bespoke day and overnight trips means that Smart Charter Ibiza know that little island paradise inside and out. Here, three of their crew spill the beans on where to be seen (or not) at one of the best places in the world to be, Formentera.
Smart Charter Ibiza’s resident Sales, Marketing, Special Events, Brand Alliance Development, Social Media, Web Management, Captain, DJ, Audio/Video Editor (that must be a big business card he’s packing!), Dazzla hails from Sydney, Australia but has spent the last 11 years earning his Ibiza and Formentera stripes. “Working at Smart Charter Ibiza isn’t just my job,” he says. “It’s my lifestyle.” When grilled on his Formentera secrets, he says it’s not about any specific location – rather, it’s about the angle from which you see it. “Grab a Seabob and become an underwater explorer for the day, it’s a view of Formentera that cannot be missed,” he says.
Sales team member Jennifer left her hometown of Zamora in Spain for the little Mediterranean island of Ibiza in 2015, and has never looked back. “The best thing about Smart Charter Ibiza is the team,” she says of her newfound home. “We are a big international family that love what we are doing. And of course, the boats, they give you the opportunity to have incredible experiences with incredible people from all over the world. She says Formentera is simply perfection how it is. “Just enjoying that blue water or having lunch in the coolest restaurant, on the beach or on a boat, practicing some sports or just chilling under the sun… every time you go it’s incredible, that’s the magic of Formentera!”
Ugne is the brand’s Partners and VIP Client Relations Manager, who came to Ibiza from Lithuania six years ago to discover she could still find a feeling of family though far from home. “I love the family feeling and the love for boating that we all share at Smart Charter Ibiza,” she explains. Zipping across to Formentera whenever she gets the chance, Ugne cites the stunning Cala Saona as her favourite place for its crystal clear waters and awesome cliffs. As for after sunset? “My favourite restaurant is Chezz Gerdi,” she says of the stunning open-air seaside restaurant in Es Pujols – a magical experience.
