Nestled into the velvet sands at the south end of Santa Eulalia beach, Chiringuito Blue’s open-sided dining room stretches right along the shore. Nothing obstructs the view across the Mediterranean as sunshine streams over plush sofas and tables while a DJ plays low-key beats in time with the lapping of the waves. Proximity to the sea makes this Ibiza beach restaurant perfect for families, especially with its cool dedicated kids’ zone.
Israeli master chef Haim Cohen curates Chiringuito Blue’s Mediterranean menu with a focus on local Ibiza produce scattered with Middle Eastern delights. There are no tricks at this unique beach restaurant; just pure flavours enhanced by lashings of herbs and spices. Starters such as chickpeas with homemade tahini are a must-try and the zucchini and pine nuts with Parmesan is just the thing to go with a handcrafted cocktail.
Cohen’s version of araies – a Bedouin dish of chargrilled pita stuffed with herbaceous minced lamb – is on the Chiringuito Blue sharing menu, but you may want to order two as quite honestly, it’s just too good to part with. Mains include baked fish, pasta, a chargrilled free-range chicken for two, and the eternal Ibiza beach restaurant classic, a mouth-watering burger. Vegetarians and vegans are well catered for, with a range of options taking diners around the world via Greek, French, Italian and Spanish flavours.
Desserts are phenomenal but the homemade ice cream sandwich made with vegan chocolate ice cream and crumble, corn crunch and wafer flake is the star. Chiringuito Blue’s handy kiosk also offers takeaway coffees, juices and pastries to enjoy on the beach, and the restaurant also offers service to sunbeds in summer. As part of the new W Hotel Ibiza complex (situated behind the restaurant), service is naturally exceptional – the perfect match for this prestigious Ibiza location.
