Es Paradis

World famous Ibiza nightclub Es Paradis could be considered one of the unofficial ‘wonders’ of San Antonio.

Words: Abby Lowe

More often than not, it’s the Playa d’en Bossa super clubs that get the main bulk of the spotlight in Ibiza, but to focus on the east entirely is to miss out on the west’s charms, which amount to more than just spectacular sunsets (though we admit these are worthy of your undivided attention). Es Paradis in San Antonio is a fine example of this fact. An Ibiza club that’s drenched in history and beauty, to miss it is indeed to have paradise lost.

Es Paradis has actually been open since 1975, making it central to the foundations of Ibiza clubbing lore. Opened by Pepe Aguirre and artist Lluis Guell, who also designed Café Del Mar, it’s located directly on the San Antonio seafront and with a distinctive glass pyramid roof that’s topped with an all-too-tempting apple, it lays claim to the title of one of Ibiza’s most beautiful clubs, inside and out. In total, there are 10 bars, three dance floors and four dedicated VIP areas, making this Ibiza club well worth exploring.

And believe us when we say that this interiors of this Ibiza club are truly something to behold. Looking not too dissimilar to a Roman-inspired filmset, Es Paradis is characterised by towering white pillars, hanging vines and sumptuous ceilings, with troops of sultry dancers always nearby to twist and shake their way into your memories. The best bit though? The club’s famous indoor swimming pool, that yes, really does get filled mid-party for your water-inspired delight on certain nights.

It’s precisely for this reason that Es Paradis is most well-known for its Fiesta Del Agua parties, which see ravers abandoning all sense and most of their clothing as they strip off and dive into what is essentially an Ibiza club rite of passage. Other parties this year include You Know The Vibes, a tribute to all things hip-hop, and Lotusland, a daytime tech house extravaganza, in which the iconic club roof will surely make way for endless Ibiza skies and sunshine. Expect a mixed and welcoming crowd, full of locals, Ibiza newbies and anyone up for a divinely decadent time.
