Winter living: Apartments in Ibiza

Mitch 039

Imagine the Ibiza lifestyle in winter, far removed from the hustle and bustle of city living. Forget battling through the wind and the rain, fighting your way to the Tube, just to spend the day staring out your office window at a grey and dreary skyline – more and more people come to Ibiza every year for the winter, to truly ‘live the dream’, with Apartments in Ibiza offering the perfect seasonal accommodation solutions…

Go to sleep amongst the peace and tranquility of your apartment block’s manicured gardens, with palm trees swaying in the breeze just across from your sea-view balcony. Wake up to the sound of the waves rolling onto the shore and watch the most beautiful sunrise to start your day…

Cycle the quiet roads into Ibiza town, along to the Croissant Show café, set at the foot of the drawbridge entrance to D’Alt Vila, Ibiza’s world-famous old town and a UNESCO World Heritage Listed Site. Indulge in a relaxing breakfast whilst keeping up with your emails (free WiFI means you can take your work with you… or not!), or simply scan the online news and Facebook updates on your iPad, with the glorious winter sun shining down on you.

Back at your apartment on the beach, two of the very best local bars and restaurants remain open throughout the winter months are right on your doorstep – Cañas y Barro (welcoming you will be Jose, Micky and Martin), and the Buena Onda Café on the seafront (run by the delightful Debbie and Daniele) – simply delicious!

For all your shopping needs – for those times when you want rustle something up in your own fully-equipped kitchen, whether a full English brekkie, a Sunday roast or just a snack – the Spar supermarket is oh-so-conveniently located on the corner of your street, and open every day except Sunday. La Caixa bank is also just one block down, with the multi-language cashpoint open 24/7…

For a truly exhilarating experience, cycle to the breathtaking Salinas beach, a mere 20 minutes away on your bike, and a completely different experience to the Salinas you may know from the summer. There are also organised group cycle tours on well-researched routes that run most weekends throughout the winter, to give you a fresh perspective on the sights of the island.

Ibiza in the winter also boasts a social calendar to rival the summer’s activities – often on a different tip to clubs, parties and beaches however! From the annual Christmas market and festivities to the May Medieval Festival and our favourite local Island tradition, the San Mateo Wine Festival. Held during the first week of December in the hills and valleys of the island’s north-west, join local wine producers and their families in sampling over 30 different locally-produced wines, fresh from the vines. Accompanied by homemade flame-grilled sausages (in giant bathtubs on a basketball court no less!), this makes for a truly great evening. Make sure you’ve arranged a ‘designated driver’!

Finally, take a boat trip out to the shores of stunning Formentera, on a specially-chartered tuna fishing experience, and the opportunity to ‘eat what you catch’! Unforgettable…
