Tick tock! The countdown is on until the arrival of 2022 and here on the white isle there are a plethora of things to do, parties and special events on the New Year calendar for residents and out-of-season holidaymakers ready to enjoy the warm nights and sunny days. Here, our editor selects the best things to do in Ibiza to celebrate the holidays, from December 31, 2021 to January 02, 2022.

Instead of worrying about what to serve or even what to order, the high-end sushi menus are served omakase-style, allowing the master chefs behind the sleek blond wooden counter to make the selection for you. Innovative and creative, they use the freshest and finest fish and seafood available and present their creations piece by piece over the course of the evening. Reservations are essential as seating limited to just 24 diners, and there are two sittings per evening at 7pm – perfect if you have a party to get to later – and 9.30pm if you want to ring in the new year in the stylish restaurant.

For dessert, a cacao cannelloni plus nougat and festive sweets will set the tone for a sweet year ahead. Price is 150€ per person, excluding drinks.

New Year’s Eve Menu at La Torre Ibiza

8pm – Friday December 31, 2021

Set on the cliffside of Cap Negret, with the sounds of the waves breaking on the rocky shoreline complementing the DJ soundtrack from the restaurant, La Torre Ibiza still exudes old school Ibiza vibes thanks to its rustic chic décor, laid-back vibes and breathtaking views. What better place then, to celebrate the dawn of a new year, with a table of your nearest and dearest on the heated terrace, tucking into the special New Year’s Eve set menu? Start with truffled pumpkin cream, followed by an option of seasonal mushrooms with eggs cooked at a low temperature and a boletus consommé, or terrine of foie gras with a green apple compote and olive caviar. Second course is a choice of prime Uruguayan flank steak with chestnuts and sauteed potatoes, or poached turbot leek quiche and pea sprouts. Dessert is an array of chocolate textures and you’ll be given 12 lucky grapes to pop with each chime of the clock at it hits 12 – don’t forget to make a wish, or a reservation as spaces are limited.

Happy New Year Menu at A Mi Manera

8pm – Friday December 31, 2021

Set in a beautifully restored ancient finca on the iconic San Juan ‘restaurant road’, A Mi Manera is a magical place to celebrate the end of 2021 and the start of 2022. The charming venue begins its Happy New Year celebration at 8pm with a leisurely eight-course set Mediterranean menu, for 110€ per person including one welcome drink on arrival (all other drinks are at an additional cost). You’ll be welcomed with oysters and champagne, or a glass of white, red or rosé – whatever your preference – followed by an appetiser of tempura artichoke, cold bites including smoked gravlax, beetroot carpaccio and mustard mayonnaise with Parmesan. Hot starters include wagyu spianata with mushrooms and truffle, plus gnocchi fritto with Fiocco. Then, it’s onto the main event: lobster cannelloni, risotto with Norcia black truffle, a fish and meat tasting and the traditional Italian bite of Cotechino, puree and lentils for good luck. Be sure to save room for dessert – it promises to be the best way to start 2022!

New Year’s Eve Dinner at Bottega Il Buco

8pm – Friday December 31, 2021

This festive season in Ibiza, the charming terrace and cosy interior at Santa Gertrudis eatery Bottega Il Buco come alive at night, as friends and families gather together over fab food and live music to celebrate the end of the year. Chef Tiago Borge has created a special five-course set menu for new Year’s Eve, including oysters, persimmon salad with marinated shrimp, Rubia Gallega carpaccio, tortellini in brodo, cod confit and creamy rice with leeks, Panettone and Chocolate Opera – the cost is 125€ per person or 165€ per person with a bottle of wine. A relaxed, fun and celebratory ambience makes this the perfect place to celebrate the beginning of the new year in laidback yet luxurious Ibiza style.

NYE at Nagai Ibiza

8pm – Friday December 31, 2021

Fusing Japanese tradition with Ibicenco charm, Nagai stands out on Ibiza’s renowned San Juan ‘restaurant road’ thanks to walls decked with a unique urban art installation – an incredible geisha painting by internationally renowned artist Findac. Beyond the impressive façade however, lies a feast for all your senses and as the team get set to bid farewell to the 2021 season before closing for their annual January and February hibernation, there’s still one final celebration to come. Nagai invites one and all to enjoy the menu created by award-winning head chef Reina Nagai, with an optional wine and sake pairing. Additionally, according to Japanese culture, the most important of all the food and drink items offered to a god on Japanese New Year (January 01 – so after the clock strikes 12am!) is sake, so in the lead-up to New Year, Nagai invites guests to sample five cups of different artisanal sakes for 20€ per person – a blessing from the gods indeed!

NYE Dinner Show & Club at Lío Ibiza

8.30pm – Friday December 31, 2021

This New Year’s Eve, Lío Ibiza is returning to its dinner-and-a-show roots and throwing a one night only event to ring in the new year on the Marina. The glitz and glamour of the dancers and performers, the high-end cuisine, the sparkle, the surprises – it’s Lío Ibiza, just as you know and love it in the summer months. After the dinner and show, the countdown to midnight will be done Spanish style – think 12 lucky grapes – and then the dance floor opens with Lunnas and Sebastian Gamboa providing the music for the nights from 12.30am. With a view across the port to the iconic skyline of Dalt Vila, there’s no better dancefloor for partying in Ibiza over the holidays and you’ll need a vaccine certificate (aka Covid passport) or negative PCR, TMA or PRAg diagnostic test to gain entry.

Vino & Co Primer Baño del Año at Las Salinas

12pm – Saturday January 01, 2022

Taking the plunge into the chilly sea at Las Salinas on the first day of the year has long been an Ibiza tradition; one that became something of a ritual when the Hamersma family – the brains behind the popular Vino & Co store in San José – began to host the day as an official event just over ten years ago. This year, due to restrictions, the event will continue albeit with some slightly different methods. Instead of setting up communal tables for food and drink on the beach, participants have been asked to snap up an Individual Picnic Bag from Vino & Co in the days prior to the event – each printed and reusable Vino & Co bag includes a bottle of AIX wine or a bottle of Goldtooth Vermouth, along with four glasses, a bag of Mr Chippy crisps, a tin of olives or cookies. Bags are 10€ and 5€ of the cost will be donated to local charity Proyecto Juntos. Participants are encouraged to share photos and tag on social media to still make a splash as they ring in the new year.
