Fusing Japanese tradition with Ibicenco charm, Nagai stands out on Ibiza’s renowned San Juan ‘restaurant road’ thanks to walls decked with a unique urban art installation – an incredible geisha painting by internationally renowned artist Findac. Beyond the impressive façade however, lies a feast for all your senses and as the team get set to bid farewell to the 2021 season before closing for their annual January and February hibernation, there’s still one final celebration to come. Nagai invites one and all to enjoy the menu created by award-winning head chef Reina Nagai, with an optional wine and sake pairing. Additionally, according to Japanese culture, the most important of all the food and drink items offered to a god on Japanese New Year (January 01 – so after the clock strikes 12am!) is sake, so in the lead-up to New Year, Nagai invites guests to sample five cups of different artisanal sakes for 20€ per person – a blessing from the gods indeed!

Taking the plunge into the chilly sea at Las Salinas on the first day of the year has long been an Ibiza tradition; one that became something of a ritual when the Hamersma family – the brains behind the popular Vino & Co store in San José – began to host the day as an official event just over ten years ago. This year, due to restrictions, the event will continue albeit with some slightly different methods. Instead of setting up communal tables for food and drink on the beach, participants have been asked to snap up an Individual Picnic Bag from Vino & Co in the days prior to the event – each printed and reusable Vino & Co bag includes a bottle of AIX wine or a bottle of Goldtooth Vermouth, along with four glasses, a bag of Mr Chippy crisps, a tin of olives or cookies. Bags are 10€ and 5€ of the cost will be donated to local charity Proyecto Juntos. Participants are encouraged to share photos and tag on social media to still make a splash as they ring in the new year.
12pm – Saturday January 01, 2022

Another feast to remember, and if you’re feeling truly brave you could even follow it with a bracing dip in the sea.
