The island of Ibiza is ever evolving, and this season sees the launch of an all-new entertainment venue perfectly designed to be experienced within the current incarnation of island nightlife. 528 Ibiza is a spectacular and spacious destination in the magical Benimussa hills, offering discerning diners a theatrical culinary experience with a uniquely Ibizan twist. It’s dinner-and-a-show, but not as you know it…
As the warm summer breeze rustles the tips of the pine trees surrounding the venue, guests are encouraged to arrive at 528 Gardens at, well, five to eight (7.55pm, clearly)! From its privileged west coast position, the views are captivating and the sense of anticipation and excitement in the air adds further to the ambience. You see, 528 Ibiza remains somewhat of a mystery in Ibiza – there’s a no phone policy that means details of the performances and menu are kept relatively secret until you arrive. It’s all part of the immersive journey of discovery.
Drawing on all four of nature’s element – earth, fire, water and wind – and taking inspiration from the myths, legends and folkore of Ibiza’s heritage, the vision behind 528 Ibiza stems from one man’s lifelong dream. Bartolo Escandell, a salt of the earth Ibicenco and owner of the land the Ibiza entertainment venue stands on today, has long dreamed of creating a theatre show on the island that didn’t conform to any cliché or standard. He wanted to create something that honoured his birthplace, his ancestors and the grounds they walked on.
In 2021, post-pandemic, Bartolo enlisted a team of the island’s foremost experts in the hospitality and entertainment industries, starting with Andy McKay of Pikes and Manumission to finally make his dream come true. They’ve assembled a cast of diverse international and homegrown talents – from front of house and in the kitchen, to behind the scenes and of course, up on stage – who make the 528 Ibiza magic come to life. It’s a multi-sensorial experience that is a feast for the eyes and the soul alike.
Guests are greeted by performers dressed as fishermen or peasants doing laundry, all of whom serve up gastronomic delights as they wander throughout the Ibiza entertainment venue. A merry band of musicians performs vibrant ditties before you take your seat for the gastronomic tasting menu (read more about the culinary concept here), and then, the spectacular 528 Ibiza performance begins as a truly magnificent troupe of talented dancers, performers, musicians and acrobats create scenes inspired by Ibiza’s bygone eras.
Channeling historical characters such as the goddess Tanit, the mysterious sirens, the early payes settlers and the first wave of bohemians, the 528 Ibiza performers sing, dance, dazzle, contort, spin, twirl, thrill, interact, and above all, they ensure you experience an evening like no other. We’re not going to give any more away – you simply need to experience this Ibiza entertainment venue for yourself. Open Wednesdays to Sundays for a limited run, in high season only, reservations are essential. You won’t want to miss this – it’s the birth of a whole new chapter in Ibiza nightlife.
