In the charming local village of Santa Gertrudis, hip Ibiza restaurant Bottega Il Buco brings a touch of NYC magic and a slice of authentic Italy to the island’s gastronomy scene. The rustic chic eatery is the first international outpost of much-loved New York eatery Il Buco, founded by Donna Lennard and Alberto Avalle in 1994, giving islanders a place to drop in, hang out and indulge all year round.
Focaccia is at the heart of Bottega Il Buco Ibiza; an ever-evolving selection of freshly-made slabs (topped with the finest seasonal produce) tempt and tease from beneath the glass counter tops. Made using an ancient organic Triticum durum grain, sourced in Caltanisetta, Sicily, the focaccia is low in gluten and easy to digest; chefs use pro-scissors to slice your desired portion and charge according to weight.
An extensive selection of Salumi and Formaggi hailing from Italy and the mainland are hand-picked for the restaurant by Avalle; diners mix and match their ideal combinations. Bottega Il Buco executive chef Tiago Borge has designed a creative main menu of salads, seafood and pasta that allows the simplicity of the ingredients to shine and dishes are served family style, to encourage sharing.
The Alimentari extends across one wall of the Bottega Il Buco restaurant interior; a true cornucopia of culinary delights. Luxurious tinned goods such as fish, pate and pickles are displayed like works of art alongside glossy bottles of artisanal olive oils, aged balsamic vinegar. Stock up your pantry or tuck into your favourite onsite alongside freshly made bread and a glass of vino.
The extensive wine list at Bottega Il Buco features over 90 organic and biodynamic drops – lovingly curated by long-standing, highly acclaimed wine director Roberto Paris. And while you may initially come for the focaccia, you’ll stay for the service – the educated, experienced, warm and welcoming team treats every guest like family.
