Breakfast has long been the star of the show at the in-house restaurant in stylish Ibiza Agroturismo Es Cucons, though previously only in-the-know islanders knew they didn’t need to be a guest to indulge. Today, the restaurant invites one and all to join them from morning until night to enjoy their signature cuisine, starting, of course, with those famous buffet breakfasts.
From 1.30pm head chef Cristian González steps into the kitchen spotlight, showcasing a creative and contemporary Mediterranean menu including daily specials designed around seasonal, locally sourced produce. Start with sharing style platters of amazing acorn-fed Iberian ham or the Spanish cheese board, or opt for healthy fresh and creative salads and homemade soups to stimulate your taste buds.
Star main courses include grilled red tuna, smoked sardines, tuna tataki with foie, slow-cooked pistachio crusted rack of lamb and hearty vegetarian and vegan bowls – spoilt for choice doesn’t even begin to describe this menu. Behind the impressively stocked bar, Angelo expertly creates elaborate bespoke cocktails, in addition to offering an exceptional selection of vinos hand-picked by the hotel owners.
With only a limited number of tables at Es Cucons, the feeling is one of intimacy, warmth and family values. From June each Tuesday is tapas night and every other Friday there is a delicious barbeque held in the garden. The alfresco dining space is filled with the sounds of laughter until 10.30pm each night as fairy lights twinkle in the trees above – a magical Mediterranean dining experience.
