Olivia’s Ibiza Kitchen

A shining star amongst the Santa Gertrudis culinary scene, Ibiza restaurant Olivia’s Ibiza Kitchen presents delectable dishes within a creative vibe, celebrating local produce and talent alike.

Set within the buzzing village of Santa Gertrudis, Olivia’s Ibiza Kitchen is a hotspot for casual dining and date night romance. With two outdoor terraces plus a cheerfully cosy dining room, the stylish and contemporary Ibiza restaurant was designed by island-based studio KsaR Living and enhanced by its namesake – Olivia van der Hagen, a design student and the only daughter of the family of restaurateurs behind the project.

After graduating from culinary school in Barcelona followed by stints in the city’s renowned restaurant scene, Jan and Sonja van der Hagen’s son Alejandro began exploring the possibility of opening a restaurant with family and friends. It wasn’t long before the whole family caught the foodie bug and an idea began to take shape. A long-time connection to the island made it the ideal place to realise their dream Ibiza restaurant and Olivia’s Ibiza Kitchen was born.

The ideal chef for the project was found very quickly: Daniel Rei – a native of Galicia possessing a resume brimming with Michelin-starred restaurants. A diverse menu was created, celebrating the abundance of Ibiza’s produce. With a commitment to local farmers combined with consultations with a nutritionist, Olivia’s Ibiza Kitchen presents nourishing, flavour-packed dishes by day – a sun-drenched, relaxed affair – and after dark, when the candlelit ambience transforms both the indoor and outdoor spaces of the Ibiza restaurant into a setting that’s filled with authentic Mediterranean charm.

Start with delights such as local Stracciatella with figs, pistachio and rocket, and sea bass tiradito with smoked octopus and cumquat. Mains at Olivia’s Ibiza Kitchen consist of delicacies like local Ibiza lamb with harissa, tzatziki and homemade pita, and farmhouse chicken with green tomato chimichurri. Vegans and vegetarians also have plenty to choose on the Ibiza restaurant’s creative menu, such as chickpea and beetroot falafel, mellow rice with porcini mushrooms and truffle plus a rotation of seasonal salads.

The youngest in the van der Hagen tribe, Victor, joins the team at the Ibiza restaurant during the summer holidays and this family of creatives goes above and beyond to ensure the island is represented in more than simply food. Tableware and ceramics are made by local craftspeople, as is the art on the walls and there’s even a coffee table book highlighting Ibiza artisans in the works. Olivia’s Ibiza Kitchen is more than just a place to eat – it’s a hub of local talent, both in and out of the kitchen.
