Weekly juice boost: Energy Booster

This smoothie is quick to make and ideal if you’re on the go and just don’t have time to eat. It’s a great pick me up… so much better than a large latte!


  • 1 handful fresh spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 1 scoop protein powder (your choice of soy, whey or pea protein powder)
  • ½ cup cold soya milk or any milk of your choice
  • 2 tablespoons of linseed oil
  • ½ teaspoon of spirulina, barley grass or dried wheatgrass

This smoothie requires you to get a few bits from your local health food shop, (unless you already have them of course!). I recommend having some good quality protein powder, linseed oil and some dried greens as part of your healthy cupboard.

Place all the ingredients in your blender with a couple of ice cubes and blend until everything is nice, smooth and green!

Why drink it? I myself do not like to have dinner if I’m going dancing, but I need energy – especially with all the club openings and new parties! So a smoothie like this one is ideal. In case I don’t have any spinach I always keep frozen berries in my freezer so I add them instead. If you ever use frozen fruit, there’s no need to use ice as it can make your smoothie frozen.
