I’ve told you the history of my addiction to studs, but now it’s time for the height of it as I bring out The Spiky Studs. As seen on Louboutin stilettoes, these spiky studs on accessories also double up as a night time weapon should you forget to carry your pepper spray in your handbag (who does this anyway?).
Gold studs are still going strong in the Ibiza style world and looking ahead to this season’s Mulberry bags it’s all about them again. So what better way to increase the amazingness of this simple tan vintage bag from Sant Jordi? Bingo.
Tan – whether it be the colour of your clothes or your skin, is the perfect gold complement so I got out my favourite tool ‘The Stud Gun’, and pierced holes for the studs all the way along the handbag flap. It’s best if you put a hole in either end, and then either corner, then in the middle, in the middle of each of those holes and so on working your way through it so it’s symmetrical. My idea of a heavenly fashion piece – studs on beaten leather.
Going down a romantic rock chick vibe, I styled this with a white dress from my favourite vintage shop, Vicente Ganesha, in Ibiza Town. On first glance it has a 1940’s Christian Dior look but I want to give it a twist by giving it the rocky edge.
Designers such as Celine and Stella McCartney were all about sending their tailored, clean whites down the runway this summer. Leaving it as it is, it would be perfect Ibiza style for wearing at an Ibiza wedding (wearing white is pretty much mandatory for guests here) but for a night time look, it’s screaming out for a bit of Angelina-esque thigh and maybe a hint of some bronzed decolletage.
The frock wraps and ties on the inside first so I took those tapes behind me and tied them behind my back (still inside the dress) rather than around the front of me, meaning there was less of the material to take around the front for the visible bow. Then wrapping it round the front and securing with the larger ties it now left room for a slit up the leg when I start to walk and it also hangs a little lower at the front.
With all this flesh on show I wanted to keep it cool and not go too far, so I put a black lingerie body under it, introducing some black before adding some studded (of course) ankle boots from Zara and finished it off with a deep pink flower corsage and matching lipstain from YSL. It’s the absolute best lip colour I have ever used, it goes on like a rich colour gloss but stays on all night.
To showcase my look? Dalt Vila for some drinks and then on to somewhere glamorous to dance. With the added protection of my studs!
