Ibiza stylist Renu Kashyap takes us inside her wardrobe every week to find out just what a stylist’s take on Ibiza style is! ‘The secret to stylish dressing – well, aside from having a personal shopper and buying your style with a gold card – is the art of knowing what fits your body type and also your personality,’ Renu explains. ‘God knows I wouldn’t get away with a floral halter dress and loafers, a la Alexa Chung!’
‘My style is bohemian and unconstrained. Feminine, but always with a slouchy touch. I have a big love of the ‘70s – in fact, I’ve thought on many occasions that I was born in the wrong decade!’ It’s no surprise that the Dutch stylist found her way to the island of Ibiza, where her vintage-inspired wardrobe – chock full of colourful prints, maxi and mini dresses and embroidered pieces – seemed to fit right into place.
‘This photo was taken at a villa in Jesus, where my husband, DJ Ken Abel, was playing that day and evening. The vest is Philip Lim, the tank top was a bargain at a stall one Queen’s Day in Amsterdam, the shorts (which totally look like a skirt) are from the second line of Isable Marant, Etoile.’
The star piece is the bag – a timeless piece by Chloe. ‘It was a second hand find at an appointment only vintage boutique in Holland called Heleen Hulsman.’ Continuing with the accessories, Renu wears sunglasses by The Row (aka the Olsen twins turned respected designer duo), shoes by Azzedine Alaia (‘one of my favourite designers who makes my heart beat faster!’). And last, but not least: ‘My husband! I found him 15 years ago at a disco where he was DJing!’
Next week, Renu’s guide to festival fashion…
