London born hair and make-up artist Lianne Claire has been honing her craft in the highly competitive bridal beauty field in Sydney since 2001, and good news for Balearic brides is that from 2014, she’ll be bringing her multi-award winning company Dream Reflection to Ibiza.
Lianne’s deep connection with Spain comes from childhood holidays spent all over the country, further enhanced by a multitude of trips to Ibiza over the years… Her own positive energy combined with the good spiritual vibes the island is known for are a guaranteed to inspire any bride-to-be with confidence when choosing Dream Reflection as their wedding stylists.
Full hair and make-up services are available for the entire bridal party (and also your guests, should they require it!), with Lianne enlisting her own team and also local experts to assist on the big day. For those brides worried about mid-wedding shine, frizz or redness, the team is available for full-day coverage, return touch ups or touch up make-up products can be supplied to keep you looking picture perfect, all day (and night) long.
Working closely with each bride, Lianne says she won’t leave her chair until both she and her client are in love with the results in the mirror – trials are highly recommended. “I think it’s really important that your hair and make-up reflects the person and the style of the wedding as a whole,” she says. “I feel that because of the amount of editorial and fashion work I do, I can produce anything that is requested with enough time and preparation.”
Lianne is deeply inspired by the hair and make-up of eras gone by (particularly the ‘30s and ‘40s), and this element often shines through in her work. “The women of those eras were just classically beautiful and elegant and took so much pride in their appearance,” she says. Vintage styling continues to play a huge role in the bridal beauty world right now, meaning Lianne’s style is very befitting of a modern Ibiza bride – fresh, contemporary with a vintage twist.
In addition to vintage trends, Lianne says 2014 is leaning towards a more ‘kitsch’, DIY, natural and boho style of wedding – which also goes hand in hand with Ibiza. “The majority of my Ibiza brides are after a relaxed, natural beachy boho look, so my style is again evolving with the trends and client demands,” she explains. “But of course I always like to add a bit of my own twist to things and make sure each bride is unique, with a look tailored to her and not the masses.”
Additional trends for the summer include braids (of all sizes and styles), simple eye make-up with a sleek, flicked eyeliner, pink or nude lips, super soft, smoky eyes with an undone textured up ‘do (“a la Brigitte Bardot – I am so in love with this look right now,” says Lianne), berry stained lips, highlighted contoured cheeks (“My signature!”), loose undone beach waves, nude natural short nails (“Gone are the days of acrylic talons!”) and loose, messy chignons (“Great for keeping your hair out of your face in hot weather.”). And of course, old school Hollywood glamour waves never go out of style – think Veronica Lake or Jessica Rabbit!
In the days leading up to the wedding and on the big day itself, Lianne’s advice to her brides is simple: “Try to relax, take some vitamins, drink some juices and just be happy and enjoy the whole experience. A relaxed happy bride is always more glowing than a stressed and controlling one, no matter how vigilant your beauty regime!” And after all, she’s on hand to do all the hard work for you!
