“Having been an Ibiza bride myself, I’d like to think I have been there, done that and learnt from some of my mistakes,” says Ibiza skin expert and beauty therapist Laura Boland of Glam Ibiza. Understanding the stress planning a destination wedding can bring helps her to level with her future Ibiza brides when planning their skincare regimes, facial treatments and all the little beauty boosting extras required to make them picture perfect on the big day!
“Just making it out to Ibiza, with your wedding dress and shoes is an achievement in itself,” she laughs knowingly. “Let alone trying to squish in all of your beauty treatments before you leave home! From personal experience, rushing all of your treatments on the day before you fly completely takes the fun and relaxation out of this exciting part of your big day – and who wants to be worried about making that spray tan last for a whole week before the wedding?”
Glam Ibiza are here in Ibiza to take control of your wedding beauty prep. From Skype or one-to-one consultations in the months leading up to your wedding day (Laura recommends starting at least 30 days prior to work with the skin’s natural regeneration process), Laura can help you with every aspect of your current beauty regime, helping you to prepare your nails, lashes, brows and most importantly skin so that everything is in pristine condition when you arrive. “We can visit you several times in the run-up to your wedding and offer treatments that will relax you and also give effective results to assist you in becoming the bride you have always pictured yourself to be.”
It goes without saying that Laura advises eating healthily and taking care of yourself, but she also understands it’s not as easy as it sounds! “There are so many opportunities to reach for bad food or have a few drinks, like celebratory lunches, your last day at work, pre-wedding dinners… its hard to stay focused on being healthy but try and remember that anything you do will show in your skin. Stress is also a major cause of adult acne, so trying to remain calm is key.”
On the day itself, if brides wake up (gasp!) with a blemish, or some redness… never fear! There are rescue remedies at hand. “Dermalogica Skin Clearing Booster can be applied topically to a blemish and will dry out the infection, and if you don’t have that, the menthol in good old fashioned toothpaste will dry and draw it out. Try to stay calm and don’t raise your temperature or you’ll flush the area even more… just wait for your make-up artists to arrive!”
For redness, Laura recommends Dermalogica Ultra Calming Mist. “Store it in the fridge, and it will instantly cool and calm the skin – and you can use it over make-up.” For her clients, Laura will provide an emergency survival kit including samples of these products… j-u-u-s-t in case!
Recommended bridal beauty treatments include:
Diamond Dermabrasion. Dermabrasion speeds up cell renewal and forces the skin to desquamate rapidly, meaning that the build-up of cells is stripped away to reveal healthy fresh skin underneath. Skin is left glowing, radiant, smooth and clear – a must for any bride in the days leading up to the big day. Make-up application can highlight flaws in the skin if they are left untreated, so creating this dewy, fresh canvas to the skin will enhance your look.
ChromaWhite TRx. For those wanting a gentle brightening facial to give skin a lustrous glow, Dermalogica have patented skin brightening technology that works on the three stages of dulling pigmentation. It prevents the trigger, production and transportation of dulling cells through the epidermis giving a beautiful glow to the skin. This facial involves deep cleansing, high strength exfoliation and on-the-spot treatment for specific areas of dullness. The skin is left with a visible luminosity, perfect for wedding photographs.
OPI Gel Polish. Beautifully manicured hands are must for your wedding day. This hard wearing polish lasts for up to three weeks, staying glossy and unchipped – in a host of colours from traditional nudes and subtle pinks to more daring bridal colours of red or bright purple. Tie this in with a mini mani or treat yourself to a luxury spa mani including a luxurious scrub, hand mask with heated mitts and a relaxing massage.
Lashes & Brows. Ramp up the glamour in your wedding pics with perfectly defined brows and pretty feminine lashes. We can achieve a range of looks from natural to celebrity glamour, depending on your style. Every make-up artist will agree that an expertly applied set of lashes and neat eyebrows make their job a whole lot easier when applying eye make-up.
Fake Bake Tan. Ok so you’re in Ibiza and you have an abundance of sunshine to work on your tan wedding tan. So why worry about fake tan? Fake Bake products are highly moisturising, which even out your skin tone and give an all over glow. Strap marks, areas of peeling skin and redness can all be improved with either a cream or spray tan 48 hours before the wedding, developing a tan two shades darker than your current skin colour whilst hydrating deep down into the epidermis – and no orange in sight!
Pre & Post Wedding Packages. The days leading up to your wedding are such an exciting time for you the bride and also your bridesmaids and moms. Glam Ibiza can visit you at your villa or hotel and create your very own pre-wedding package, whether its relaxing, pampering or preparing, or after the wedding for a post wedding de-stress session.
