So you’re newly engaged and Ibiza is your wedding destination of choice! Ibiza wedding experts recommend setting aside at least 12 months to plan your wedding, and depending on your schedule and needs, chances are you’ll visit the white isle more than once during the planning stages of your big day. Of course, some weddings can be pulled off in shorter time scales and others are so grand it might take longer, but the average is a year, which gives you enough time to research, view, try, test and book your dream wedding.
Speaking of experts – planning a destination wedding can be a tricky process, what with language barriers, time differences, international money transfers, uncertainty regarding reputations and regulations, not to mention time spent communicating with people you’ve never met face to face. Hiring an Ibiza wedding planner ensures your day goes off without a hitch (aside from the obvious pun), and gives you a trusted liaison on the island, working on your behalf when you can’t be here… which is probably most of the time!
Yes, of course you can plan and book your own Ibiza wedding, but wedding planners knows the ins and outs of island suppliers, understand the nuances associated with each venue (for example, some can only have music until midnight, others cannot have live musicians, some will accept external catering and others only use their own chefs – and that’s just the start!), can haggle to get you the best deal from local suppliers due to their existing good business relationships. They will realistically advise you of time frames, budgets, legalities and above all, ensure all elements come together perfectly on the actual day so that you have a stress-free Ibiza wedding!

The unofficial wedding season in Ibiza is generally considered to take place from April until July (with a tendency for rain in May), with a brief month-long break due to the August heat (of course, there are brave brides who dare to defy this), resuming again from September through to October. Competition is fierce as Ibiza becomes more and more popular as a wedding destination, and it’s important to note some venues are completely booked out a year in advance.
Our top tip: Be flexible with your wedding date and certainly don’t discount weekdays – realistically, if your guests are heading to Ibiza for your wedding, chances are most of them will happily spring for a few days off work anyway and you’ve got more of a chance of scoring the venue and suppliers of your choice.
Your first face-to-face meeting with your wedding planner will no doubt follow a series of emails, phone calls, skype chats and more, but it’s this crucial first visit to the island where you should visit every location on your hit list and aim to book your favourite. It’s also your chance to investigate caterers, stylists, hotels, DJs, bands and more – remember, the earlier you plan, the more chance you have of locking in your first choices for each element. Then, upon your return, that ‘save the date’ email becomes a reality… as do the wedding fitness and diet regimes. And yes, that goes for both bride and groom!
