About the retreat: Yoga in the Village retreat is specifically an opportunity to deepen your yoga practice with James DeMaria. Morning Yoga classes will explore hand Mudras for strengthening health and balance in the body’s nervous, circulatory and respiratory systems, with plenty of time to refine Asanas (postures) and learn Pranayama (breathing techniques) whilst developing Meditation techniques to suit each individual.
About the venue: In the beautiful village of San Juan in the North of Ibiza.With fresh mountain air and beautiful sunsets, San Juan’s friendly and relaxed atmosphere makes it a perfect place to unwind. There are juice bars, restaurants and cafes within this picturesque mountain village, plus many walks with stunning views of the sea and surrounding mountains.
About the host: James DeMaria uses his choreographic background to breakdown the fluidity of Asanas, to combine ballet and dance movements with Ashtanga yoga postures to release tension in the body, Pilates, Release techniques and mudra meditations for health. James worked as a professional dancer and choreographer worldwide for 10 years, creating movements for dance but also for rehabilitation from injury. During this time James also studied Pilates with Alan Herdmen in 1988 before studying Yoga and qualified as a personal trainer. He began studying yoga with Alex Madim and Godfrey Deveraux in Ibiza and has been teaching in Ibiza for over 6 years working with students from all over the world.
Who it’s for: Clients of all yogic disciplines and levels can enjoy plenty of one to one attention in a group of no more than 10 people. James’ classes are a balanced style for everyone – open to all levels and accessible for beginners too.
