Hot yoga is a demanding series of 26 postures (asanas) and two breathing exercises (pranayamas), which is suitable for all ages and levels of ability. It is practiced in a room heated to 40.5 degrees with 40-degree humidity to simulate the conditions you would experience if practicing in India. The intense heat allows for deeper stretching while protecting your body from injury at the same time.
The 90-minute program is widely reputed to deliver all-over health benefits, preventing illness, injury and even limiting the effects of aging. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments and joints in preparation for the next pose. Each asana is designed to stimulate organs, glands and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100 percent of the body, restoring all systems to a healthy working order.
In addition, the series of postures combines skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control, which leads to increased mental clarity and reduced stress. Hot Yoga helps you appreciate how the mind functions, as you learn to become very conscious of your thoughts, starting to control them better due to the heat – after those first few classes of course!
Regular practice is proven to improve posture and spine alignment, relieve back pain and headaches, reduce symptoms of chronic diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, thyroid conditions and improve body image, flexibility, balance and strength, all the while providing an overall feeling of wellness and peace.
Use your mind to strengthen your body and your body to enrich your mind.
